Leg Haters?

Where are they?! It never ceases to amaze me at how many people will come out opposed to the legislature when it handles "message" resolutions. Yet, here we have a truly "stupid" bill that, as Sen. Jones claims, the legislature has "worked hard" on. What a waste of time.

Perhaps I missed the hundreds of newsstories talking about the recent outbreak of suspected criminals running into schools while fleeing police. I guess there was enough of a problem that the legislature needed to expend precious "hard work" on this bill to ensure that it passed. Undoubtedly, if this bill prevails, we will see a downward trend in criminal suspects running into schools.

Come on haters, where are you?!

Soul

This bill may not stop "crazy criminals" from entering school properties or buildings where your children attend classes. However, this new law will give prosecutors the leverage to punish those who would deliberately put students in harms way, while committing a crime.

Irked

All of these law makers should be fired. Bills such as this are a waste of time, and money. Lawmakers are out of touch with reality.

Whiggy

The test for passing legislation should not be whether every criminal will stop and think before committing the crime. We should not have criminals in schools, and they should be punished if they enter.

Sluffing/Playing Hooky

Does that mean that any kids sluffing/playing hooky in school can get in trouble if they run from the school police officer? Thats classic. That would be really funny.

sorry but i agree wth leg haters, why are the members of our goverment working so hard on a bill
that wont do any more good than the death penality does - these guys that are running from cops aren't going to care where they go because in thier minds
they will hide so well in a school no one will find
them - just as those who commit murder never think
of the death penalty because they don't think they
will ever get caught - stupid - that describes both
this bill and crooks -

How about this???

Let's put a sign on all the banks warning the criminals that they can't run in the building and rob the people in there! If all it takes to keep crimianls out of buildings is a sign...wait, I've got to go put some signs on my house!

More notes

I agree, that this is the worst bill that could be passed. They really should start spending the money and time on something that will help humanity. Just punish the crime doers and stop making rules to catch them allready.

More Laws for Law

So, this laws says that it's illegal to run through a school after doing something illegal? Isn't it already illegal to do illegal stuff and then run from police?

So, anyone for term limits?

Another prime example of the problems with the ruling class of legislator-for-life.

I nominate every idiot for the 'ruling class twit of the year' award!

Earl Dean

Utah has always embraced "stupid". It was the "stupid" that made Utah embrace Bush and again with Palin. That along with the thought of both of them in highheels and carrying whips. Is the obstruction party turning over a new leaf?

sll

What about churches? What about car dealerships? What about malls? What about 7-11 stores? You mean in a bill this idiotic, they're only worried about schools??

sll

Better yet, why don't they just make it illegal to hide from the police--that would cover everyplace.

Yeah...Obama has us on track. Get a grip dude!!

More wood

Brain dead body of government, that's all you can say. How does this kind of legislation get out of commitee and what is really important to the econmoy and the state gets shut down? Such as dealing with illegal aliens and how they are destroying everything america stands for. Stupid isn't descriptive enough to show the idiocy that abounds in this ligislative session.

Just arm someone at the door of each school or post a cop. It would keep the school safe, create new jobs and deter criminals from running into schools.

Based on the spelling in many of these posts, the real crime is that so many of you didn't learn how to spell while you were in school! We can't run from that!

Again, some of the Legislature demonstrates that they just do not have a clue as what to do with their time or what REAL problem face this State. Wasting time on silly laws such as this is justification for cutting the time the Legislature has to come up with more laws.
