Finally ... intelligent government and rational thinking prevails. And in Utah of all places!

In a world of divergent and mostly failed solutions, it is refreshing to see this kind of tolerance and love. Way to go Utah!

I hope you can maintain this kind of level headedness ... and keep up the good work! Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.

Robert

It is time something happens to clean up this sick mess. Polygamy has gone on much too long and has given Utah a rotten name. I am tired of hearing people say Utah is a state of perversion. The leaders here are doing nothing to stop polygamy but setting around on their behinds looking like ridiculous simpletons.

What is this?

I heard Polygamy was against the law in the other 49 states and well in other countrys. So the Attorney General of Utah wants to help these people and have the government pay for it?

Thier moral compass is off again.

Hasnt the last 8 years of governmet spending and just righting checks out not taught these people anything? Polygamy is wrong.

Outraged

"They're almost at a crisis point by the time they reach us" & "underserved" indeed! Enforce the law against this illegal crime - the state of Utah and our law enforcement are complicit in failing to simply enforce that law. It is illegal. It astonishes & sickens the rest of the world that everyone here cannot face this and simply enforce it - not doing so just lets it spread to other states & countries, who now face the burden of huge enforcement costs. Let's hope a federal task force does what they refuse to - write in to get action.

Utah is deficient in brains. It too inbred.

How about helping the 12 year old girls who are about to be turned over by their mothers to be a multiple wife of some old man?

ATTRITION

ATTRITION?

Utah's fraud capitol

The Attorney General wants to be Senator. Maybe he will campaign in Hildale on the platform of stimulus money for Hildale and Colorado City. Get real! Utah law makes polygamy a crime, Utah continues to lead the nation in criminal fraud, and Utah's Attorney General only has eyes for embracing polygamists and challenging the BCS. Your tax dollars (and your Republican vote) at waste.

Inflated numbers

So of the 557 persons who drove by the office and looked in the window, or who called, or who thought about leaving polygamyville, 12 needed help? Help that was already available through existing domestic violence assistance agencies? This is duplication of services to a group well known for exploiting taxpayers.

government

Government get your fat head out of everyones life.
you talk about peepingtimmy, government says they can help why don't you start by fixing your own problems first. then you can go to some Millionaires and tell them you will help them with bigamy.

what

Government get out of every ones life.
Is yours that dull.
If FLDS can become Millionaires in the wilderness then why on earth would they want help from a failing government. maybe we could learn some tips from them.

Re: government & what

The millionaires among the FLDS aren't the ones who want help. It's their abused and neglected spouses and children who need and want these services. These government-sponsored programs are helping a vulnerable and too-often neglected population. What's more, they're not barging in and forcing themselves upon unwilling people; they serve those who come to them for help. Crying "government get out of everyone's life" over a program that's obviously helpful and non-invasive strongly suggests you have something to hide.

Freethinker

What about the husbands of all these women? They are the ones who need financial assistance. Let's start an assistance program for them funded by the state of Utah and the Federal Government.

First time

Wow--I had no idea there were so many uneducated, uncaring people in Utah but it is evidenced here by some of the comments. It sounds like a little education on polygamy and a little tolerance could go a long way.
