Locals boost business at ski resorts

Many of the resorts seem to have given up on the local skiers with their very high ticket prices and emphasis on resort amenities. The prices are so high that I am starting to wish I had never introduced my kids to skiing.

Brighton and Alta seem to be the only resorts at all interested in attracting the local customer.

I went to Park City for the first time in years because a from-out-of-town relative was going there. I found much worse snow, worse runs, and nothing that would justify the higher price for me.

Unless the higher priced resorts can convince the CA and East Coast skiers to come back, they will find they have priced themselves way out of the local market.

The high ticket prices of resorts certainly does not attract the local skier. I, personally hope they go bust and bring back the 5 dollar-a-day monday to thursday tickets.

Yes prices are high at some resorts, but try playing golf and it's even worse. Sure I can go play the local course but even that is now $30 per round. Then if you want to go play any of the nicer course's you are looking at 75-150 easy for 18 holes.
