Way to go. I have seen her play basketball and she is going to be really good at the next level, leaves me to wonder why the in state schools dropped the ball on her, I hope she does well in her collegiate career and especially against BYU and Utah for not offering her.
Way to go! We wish you the best. We will miss watching you play with Lexi and the other girl's at SHS next year.
When I first moved to Springville, I remember these two little girls that carried a basketball everywhere they went and were always hunting for places to shoot some hoop. They liked to challenge the boys to games. They were Ashley K and Holly A. I've watched how hard they've worked over the years and appreciate the good example they have set for their peers at SHS.
Good luck at UNLV, Ashley. We'll follow your college career with great interest. Thanks for being good captains and steering the ship to a successful basketball season.
From a 4A girls coach:
Ashley is a team player and will be successful at UNLV. Good luck and come back and haunt the MWC schools in Utah that did not recruit you like they should have.
Way to Ash-- you deserve it! You are right, who doesnt want to take a trip to Vegas!
Congratulations to Ashley. She was tough to play against especially on the boards. It gives us younger players some hope that we can reach that same goal.
one of the best "all around" players i've seen in a long time. you're going to a school worthy of your talent. congrats, ashley!
Are any of the other top in-state seniors going anywhere? Hailey Holmstead? Dani Lockheart? Alle Finch?
I heard the other two seniors for American Fork are going to Utah Valley?
Best of luck to Ashley as she had been a great player the past 2 years.
It would be nice to see what is going on with the other top kids in the state.
Holmstead, Lockhart, and Finch have not been offered anywhere. Its to bad because they are good enough to play. Why not Weber St? Southern Utah? Utah State? Utah Valley? You have to wonder why they have not been offered. Did Holmstead play for Utah Flight? Where did the other 2 play during aau ball?
I really think Lockhart could play at the next level. It is all in if they still have potential that college coaches think they can develop.
Holmstead, Lockhart and Finch played for the Utah Sky.
All have deficiencies in their games that's why they aren't being recruited by the d-1 schools.
Didn't know they were all Utah Sky kids. That is not good for Kara as she seems to do well in getting kids to college. Isn't Bridgwater a Utah Sky kid also? Doesn't sound like she is going anywhere either. 4 top kids in state may have to settle for junior college. Wow.
Utah Flight pushed Mason, Mansfield, and Parker to D1 schools. I don't think Mason or Mansfield are as good as those other 4 but our Flight Director Mary Waters pushed her kids.
Maybe Utah and BYU talked to her and she didn't want to go to either school! Besides, I would never second guess Elaine Elliots judgement...have you heard about her record as a coach? She must know what she's doing!!! As for Juddy...I wouldn't want to go play for him!!!
Congrats, Ash! An honor well deserved.
Mason and Mansfield are there because they only recuit Utah County kids.
maybe hayley, finch, and dani are all looking at schools right now but just havent signed with one yet. I know they have got a few offers...top 3 players in the state! hope to see them go far!!
