Free Throws

The real score here folks:

Lone Peak 24, Jordan 3. That was the free throw count for the game last night.

Go ahead and crown the three-peat now if that is how the games are going to be called.

The Real Stat Of The Game

Free throws:

Lone Peak 24, Jordan 3

If the games are going to be called like this, go ahead and crown the three-peat now. It was a very close game until the officials started putting Lone Peak at the line every time they got breathed on or touched in the 2nd half.

ha

are you kidding jordan played dirty, desperate defense and it was that aggressive play that kept them in the game. Rather than let lp get any easy layup or fastbreak they would foul them. LP had plenty of offensive fouls aswell dont blame this game on the refs. they sucked both ways. Did you not see Haws get choke slammed or Tebbs get picked up of the ground by 2 beatdiggers. Jordan played dirty thats what kept them in the game and they got what they got because of it. LP Played terrible but they earned that win in the second half.

Hmm

I was at the game. It was apparent that Jordan's strategy was to get physical with Tyler Haws. They were not going to let him beat them (a lot of good it did them.)

In the second half, Jordan was taking mostly jump shots. By the fourth quarter, they were taking 3's to try to get back in the game. LP didn't play a press defense, so there was not a great deal of contact. My guess is that many of the free throws (at least 10) came in the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter, after Jordan began committing intentional fouls to try to get back in the game.

The moral of the story is that if you are going to play on a strategy of beating up the opposing teams best player, you should expect to have a large deficit in free throws.

The fact that we have Jordan fans coming here to whine about it just shows that they have a problem being honest with themselves.

Real Stat

All that means is that LP was more aggressive. Once Jordan got down, they settled for jump shots. If that is how teams are going to play LP, they should crown the tree-peat.

Tebbs

Who is this Tebbs kid? Where did he come from? I don't remember him last year.

LP is pulling the "we played terrible card"

Silverwolf

It's going to be Barbeque after 2 for the Knights when we "D" them up like they have never been defended before. The Lone Peak Juggernaut ends Wednesday at approximately 5:25 p.m.

At the Game

The officiating did not decide this game. Jordan held and fouled Lone Peak all night. The only three field goals that Austin missed, he was hammered going to the rim with no calls. In addition, almost 1/2 of those free throws were the result of Jordan being down and having to foul to have a prayer. Stop whining and give credit where it is due! You are just not used to playing a team that knocks down free throws so you can't afford to hack them to death.

Aggieman

24 to 3 is the real stat, I guarantee Jordan wins with 24 free throws. What is this becoming? The NBA? I hope not. Good luck Riverton!

Not at the game

BUT have seen LP play. The truth is when the game is close or LP is behind by a few the fouls begin to rack up, your key players are out of the game because of foul trouble, LP goes on a 18-3 run, and you're down by 12. However, after LP is up by 15 or 20, you notice that the fouls you were not getting are now being called. The downside its only 4 minutes left in the game.

At the Game (2)

I was also at the game, and I am a Lehi fan. There is no way as an unbiased fan that you can say that Jordan did not get the short end of the calls in the third quarter. And the comment above is wrong. Jordan did not foul down the stretch, they were trapping and trying to get a steal. But it was not a case of them fouling a ton in the late stages of the game. In fact, Lone Peak was in the bonus in the 3rd quarter in about 4 1/2 minutes. Not to mention Jordan had two starters on the bench with 4 fouls each in the late 3rd quarter too.

There is no question that Lone Peak is the team to beat. They swept us and I was very impressed by them both games I saw. But I watched every single game yesterday and the officiating was consistently allowing the players to play. The only exception to this was the second half of the Lone Peak game. And how about the "flop" foul where Haws falls to the floor? That was a complete joke! There was no contact on that play. None!

Flop

Ha "at the game 2" is right! Haws flopped like a pancake on that play. What a faker! And whiner!

Very True

If Haws wants a call, he gets one

Lone Peak Fan

I have watched Lone Peak play all season long, and I have to give credit to the Jordan High coach and his game plan. I have not seen Lone Peak struggle like they did in the first half of last night's game all year long, or in the last 4 years for that matter. It seemed that Jordan knew every set that Lone Peak tried to run, and the Jordan bench was constantly calling out plays as we started them. I tip my hat to the coach for a great game plan and for preparing his kids for this game.

Moving forward, Riverton looked good so I hope that we can show up tomorrow! The 5A field is loaded this year, it is anyone's tourney right now.

Jordan Fan

Jordan was lucky to be in the game at half time. You could tell LP was ready to explode. Jordan couldn't handle LP's defense. Way, way, way to many turn overs. They had to shoot 3's because thats the only thing they could get off. The game was over in the first 2 minutes of the second half.

basketball junkie

when I SEE A TEAM DO A BOX AND ONE AGAINST A GREAT PLAYER AS HAWS ITS GREAT TO SEE HIM PUSH HIMSELF TO OVER COME THAT KIND OF DEFENCE FOR THOSE WHO THINK HE GETS ALL THE CALLS YOU DONT WATCH ALL THE HOLDING AND BUMPING HE RECIEVES GREAT PLAYERS ALWAYS DEMAND GREAT DEFENCES DONT CRY WHEN THE REFS MAKE THE CALLS I WAS AT THE GAME I SEEN AT LEAST A DOZON CALLS THAT THE REFS MISSED WITH THE HOLDING AND BUMPING QUIT YOUR CRYING

Jordan Fan

Congrats to the Beetdiggers on a great season. Coach Geertson has done an incredible job turning the program around in his two years. I believe you will see Jordan "on the rise" in the coming years with him as the coach. Nice job boys, you had a great year!

Knight for Life

You can argue all you want, but Lope Peak eeked out a win, just like they've been doing all season long, for three years straight now. They've got talent, more than 98% of the teams in the state. LP is the #1 seed, playing a lower-tiered team, and yet you still expect for them to roll over and die. Not gonna happen. LP will win again this year because of its coaching and talent. Not because of referees. Coach Lewis has created a dynasty that will last for a long, long time. He took a team with a losing record under Coach May, and turned them into state champs in under two seasons, and has been champs twice more in three tries.

Look for LP to roll over the rest of the competition on its way to another state title. After realizing they are not invincible, they'll be fired up for every game from here on out.

Tebbs

Tebbs moved here from vegas last year.He is a great ball handler and great kid. He stepped up big the first time lp played lehi. Hes proven to score when he has to. but prefers dishing it to his teamates ither through the legs, behind the back or threading the needle across the court.
