Easily the greatest moment of my three year high school experience..way to go girls! Its a major privelage to watch you play :] Congrats you deserve state! Go Lady Cavemen!

AFlover

Wow, I remember that game last year and how disappointed we were, and how sad you guys were. You guys for all the hard work that you have put into this game over the past 5 years working together, I can't wait to see what each and every one of the "Fab Four" seniors do in college they should be great players on their respective teams. GO AF!!!!!!

BBall Fan

The first half was amazing. AF 29, Riverton 15. Defense, rebounding, and tenacity brought the title to AF when it got scrappy in the second half. Taking the huge Riverton crowd out of it until the 4th was critical.

Way to go AF!

AFan

Wow, what a great game. Our girls are awesome. I bet we have some sort of assembly for them. That's an amazing picture too. It really captures the moment.

B-Ball Fan

Nice win AF. I saw Holmstead take Riverton out of the State Tourney when she was a Freshman in the first round, now she does it again. Congrats!!
Funny, no comments from the over-confident shiney-wolves this morning.

Die Hard Bingham Fan

Before this tourney I thought this Championship was up for grabs. There were about 4-5 teams that could fight for the title. Now I am convinced that AF was the best team in the state. What a solid performance by Holmstead and her team. Congrats and enjoy the title and great job at sticking it to Riverton. You all did it with class.

At the game ...

Congratulations Riverton on a great season. AF understands the hurt of losing a Final game so there is nothing but respect and empathy for what your players, parents, coaches, fans, etc are feeling this morning.

Riverton players battled hard the entire game. I was impressed with how tough they fought back in the 4th quarter. Shows their character.

I hope to see Lockhart and Finch play college somewhere. Good luck to both.

Even as a fan of the Lady Cavemen, you still have to give a lot of praise to Riverton. Going undefeated to that point was a major achievement, and they almost rallied at the end. Congrats on your great season and good luck next year.

AF student/girls basketball fan

All the American Fork Lady Cavemen basketball players are my heroes, each and every one of them is so amazing! You girls have been so fun to watch, you deserved this title. You all have worked so hard for this, I am so proud of you! That was the best moment of my life watching you guys take state, all your smiles on your faces it was priceless you deserve nothing less i can't wait to watch you all do great in college! Throughout this season and last, watching every game, that couldn't have been a better way to end it. I LOVE YOU LADY CAVEMEN!!!

You girls are the best!

Congrats to AF and their program.. I was there at the game and it was so loud and so intense it was fun to watch.. Haley is unstoppable and is also a great individual... Congrats to AF and also Riverton

#1 Fan of Kaycee Mansfield

WOW! You guys are incredible! It was an amazing game and I am SO proud to be a caveman! I think the best moment was when there was 3 seconds left and Cyd looked at the clock, she had the look of complete happiness. Ahh! It was amazing! Also Kaycee Mansfield is the coolest person that has ever walked the earth! She even let me wear her practice jersey to the state games!!!! You guys deserved it and I will always be the biggest fan of the 2008-2009 Lady Cavemen Girls Basketball team!

AF Fan

As an AF fan, I would like to point out some very strong character by Riverton's #25. Right after the game ended and some Riverton girls were struggling with the loss, #25 looked at her team and told them to stand up and applause AF. I was very impressed with this young lady-even though it was a tough loss for RHS, they still showed their support for AF. Well done both teams.

To bball fan: Holmstead did not knock riverton out of the tourney as a freshman, she did it as a sophomore. Quit gloating, enjoy the championship, and get your facts straight. When she was a freshman riverton beat AF by 20 at AF! However all riverton supporters who were there knew she would be a future super star! She is an awesome b-ball player. Riverton girls: great year, we are proud of you, thanks for the memories of a wonderful season.

CAVEMAN FAN

You lady caveman deserve this win.
on and off the court you guys work to be the best you can be.
The Girl's basketball team can be found supporting every member of our student body...whether at the volley ball, softball, soccer, or boys basket ball games. I love it! You should be proud! Watching the way you guys win the state championship made me proud to be a caveman, and watching the way you treat others makes me proud to be your friend. Whatever come I know that you girls will continue to make a positive influence wherever you go. I love the lady Cavemen!!!woooooohooo.

Riverton has a player by the last name of Campbell that was truly 'inspiring' to watch and was an incredible example to every sports fan. Don't get me wrong, when she was on the hardwood she gave every ounce of effort immaginable. She was as competitive as the next girl; however, during the breaks in the game she could always be found with a smile on her face, enjoying the moment, at the same time lending encouragment to her teammates. She reflected all that's good about high school sports.

As much as I'll remember AF taking it right at Riverton's girls, winning Utah's top prize, I will always recall Campbell's perspective in realizing that it's only a game. In most cases a game is someting that's played one day, talked about the next and forgotten the day afterwards.

Great job by both teams and their respective coaches!

GREAT JOB AMERICAN FORK!!!! I WILL ALWAYS BE YOUR NUMBER 1 FAN!!! I KNEW WITHOUT A DOUBT YOU COULD BEAT RIVERTON!!! You see. Even a Bingham Fan says that were number 1 in the state... THEY ADMIT THAT YOU LADY CAVEMAN TRULY ARE NUMBER 1!!! YOU DESERVED THAT WIN MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE AND IM SOOOOOO PROUD TO BE YOUR FRIEND/FAN!!! I LOVE YOU GIRLS AND IM SOOOOO PROUD OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENT!!! WAY TO BEAT RIVERTON 51 to 40.. GREAT JOB!!! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!!!!!! :) :) :)

Unbiased Observation

Riverton could not take advantage of it's height. AF's pressure on the ball took Riverton out of everything they wanted to do. Holmstead is a player who understands the game and how to use the skills she has. Great moment at the end of the 1st half. Iso for Holmstead, she drives 1 on 1 then stops and pops. For being 5'8 she has figured out how to finish and has improved her outside shot. Definate 5A MVP. AF pretty much rode her as they should have. Riverton just didn't have anyone who stepped up. Did anyone wonder why there was a picture of two 3A teams on the cover of the 4A/5A program?

From a long ways away

As an alum' of AF, and being over a thousand miles away from home, you girls have lifted my spirits!!
Great accomplishment: girls, coach, assistants, aides, and teachers and administration.

Enjoy it. Tomorrow is... well the opening of practice for next season.

You go girls!!!!!!!!!

PS -- now go to the home of the widow of the guy who got killed in Iraq and hold her hand for a while will yah.

Most Satisfying ...

part of AF getting to the Final game was beating Bingham and knocking them out of the tournament two years in a row by LARGE margins! When you can do that to a program like Bingham (who is respected and feared) you have an excellent team.

Congratulations AF! You ARE the only undefeated 5A team against teams from Utah. And, how badly did you beat the 4A champions by? Something like 30 points. AF is best in State. Period. We will see 5-6 girls from this team over the next two years play at the next level.

UVU

UVU must be excited to have two State Champion players join their team next year. That makes for some great PR.
