Should we identify gays in Utah who contributed to defeat Prop 8 and discriminate/boycott against them? The gays' boycott was anti-democratic and wrong. Shame on them. And gays talk about mean spirited actions.
Now if only Utah lawmakers can find a common ground, this almost seems so easy. If a business can do it, I believe Utah lawmakers can do it. It's just truly amazing that giving rights to gays at work is that easy and look, i'm still here and it isnt the end of the world.
well i'm hurt that the gay community hurt another family. Where is my apology? I guess Ill continue to boycott gay marriage.
I guess your moral stance can only keep you from a convertible Saab for so long. Those are some cute cars.
Excellent point. I'm all for that.
A free society means that you get to choose who you associate with. If gays feel very strongly about changing the constitutions to roll back their civil liberties, then they absolutely are entitled to voluntarily cease giving business to entities and persons that contributed to the political campaign. If Mormons feel the opposite, they are absolutely entitled to do the same. It's not anti-Democratic, it's the *exercise* of liberty to decide who you'll do business with. As far as I'm concerned, everyone gets ONE vote, and they vote their conscience. If they want to go beyond that and spend money to influence OTHER PEOPLE's votes, then they have opened themselves up to scrutiny and should be prepared to accept the rewards/detriments of spending money to influence others' votes. Transparency, choice, freedom to associate --- all democratic exercises. If Mormon wanna spend money to influence others' votes, they shouldn't cry when light is shined on their political activities.
how is protesting undemocratic or not an importent part of our society? do you feel the same way about those protesting against the Obama's economic plan? What part of our form of governemnt and history of our country do you not get? protest have a long and honoranle place in the history of the country.
Mature Mormons and mature gays have to find a way to reconcile. This hypothetical battle does not reflect the reality that specific gays are best friends with specific Mormons and vice versa. When ideas are debated, it seems many forget it's real people we're talking about with these lofty ideas. Gays aren't devils, and Mormons don't think they are -- disagreement about gay marriage does not have to mean disagreement about everything. There should be common ground and civility.
Gee -- I'm sooo glad to read this story and know of this event. I know I was arranging my life and business affairs around the fact that a gay group was boycotting a car dealership. Are we so devoid of news -- as Rome burns, Obama takes us down the Socialist road --hundreds and thousands lose their jobs, and the media continues to fan the flames of controversy where there's probably a dozen people involved? Heck, my family reunion each Sunday for dinner at Grandpa's house are at least two dozen people.. and we can have a protest each week about something. Where's the reporter banging on our door? Cut off the oxygen and the cancer (publicity) will die.... Please.
Just like all those who contributed to the Yes on 8 campaign, the names of all of us who helped pay for the (pathetic) No on 8 campaign are listed publicly on the California Sec. of State website.
Look us up and bring on whatever (legal) retribution you can muster. Boycott? Protest? Go for it. It's your right. At this point, I'd prefer to see you go ahead and exercise that right if it promised an end to your incessant and annoying whining.
"Should we identify gays in Utah who contributed to defeat Prop 8 and discriminate/boycott against them? The gays' boycott was anti-democratic and wrong. Shame on them. And gays talk about mean spirited actions."
yea, they aren't discriminated against enough alread! Lets add insult to injury, pour salt in the wounds. That'll show them immoral degenerates who obviously "chose" to be guy, that we mean business!
Who is it who is really showing intolerance?
Please DO boycott "the gays." Stop going to their bars- I'm sure all them gays will go out of business. And while we're on the subject- I wish ol' Martin Luther King Jr. were around so you could give him that line about how boycotting a business that discriminates is anti-democratic and wrong
