I like the Cot-side Chats. Even the title has some light humor.

I have been impressed with Rep. Chaffetz. This is someone that listens and responds. You don't have to wait until the spring before election to hear from him.

Keep up the good work Jason!

I agree, arc. Jason just gives me a feeling of confidence in government once again. A true populist-style, all around good guy.

Way to go, Jason. You are setting the tone for the future of what government should be!

Socialism

I wish Jason would introduce a "COT" Bill to the criminals in Washington D.C. now if we can just get them all to wear orange suits and throw in some (steele) bars.

Populism? This is the backbone of Chaffetz. His populism meant you lock of all Hispanics in tents, to finally supporting Obama's promised guest worker visa program.

Populism means you do what is popular at the moment. Remember in elementary school how you shot spit wads because it made everyone laugh? Or how you gave some little kid a wedgy because it made you look neat for everyone? Or how in High School you drank your first beer just to fit in? These are all perfect examples of populism.

Right now it is easy for Chaffetz to look good because Congress is acting exactly as a communist would ask them to act. Time will still tell as to whether or not he goes back to his Huntsman type roots of big, populist government.

If Chaffetz is going to be truly affective he needs to stop grandstanding and start getting serious about sound, Constitutional government.

He stores my faith

He restores my faith... in gimmickry. Glad to see it is back!! Makes me smile to watch a smooth young politican suck the life blood out of the intelligent people.

Complaining, complaining, complaining. Using the modern tools does not mean that you are modern, only that your fingers can move.

The reason the state dept. changed on the birth control issues is because there are 6.X billion people on this earth and it is not getting any larger. But the pop. will continue to growth, mr. rep.

You might want to settle back on your gimmickery cot and read from 1968 Garret Hardin's world famous, "Tragedy of the Commons." It will help you leave your cot and get busy solving problems insteading of posturing and trying to look cool.

CotMan and Hobnobbin'

This guy's like Piyush Jindal.

No one will ever remember Piyush without thinking of him running through the foyer of the Louisiana State Capitol, bursting onto your TV screen with the Republican "response" to our President's speech.

Chaffetz, too, will forever be known ONLY as The CotMan. It's already stale, and when that's the only way you can make yourself stand out, your 13 minutes are up. It's kinda getting like OctoMom.

Tragedy of the Commons?!

I am starting to regain some faith in the readers of the Dnews. I was worried I was going to need to find some Dr Seuss book that indirectly covers sound thought for the Jason Chaffetz fan club. haha

While Rome burns Mr "tent city" Chaffetz fiddles with an Ipod on a freak'n cot. Are we serious?!

jumipin' jack

This guy's a loser.

Milkin' It for All its worth

The cot thing is really getting old. Makes him look cheesey and buffonish. Like its all gimmick and no substance. Narccisism can be treated, and I suggest he gets counselling.

Cameron

With this many people falling over themselves to ridicule Rep. Chaffetz - though not a word about policy or votes - he must be doing great.

Craig

Only an idiot would read a single DN article and use it to take the measure of a man.

Who Cares to Watch?

C'mon -- who would actually tune-in to watch this guy? Who cares? Maybe if we all ignore him, he'll go away???????

Mike

I disagree with about EVERYTHING this guy says BUT I have to commend him for his voter outreach and embrace of new technology. I actually like the guy, know about him, and look forward to hearing/seeing what he's doing in D.C.

Hero of Canton

This is the type of leadership we need in Washington, someone who connects with the people and has a desire to do what is right by the people.

Keep up the good work Mr. Chaffetz, please don't listen to the very very small minority that will disagree with everything.

Second that

Publius

Finally, the House of the People is being returned to the people. It's nice to have someone back there who's real and really cares about what matters to his constituents.

SLC gal

I love Chaffetz. You can tell he's there for the good of the people vs. the good of himself. He doesn't belive in the popular vote. He believes in common sense. Can we just make this guy president please??????

I agree, Mike,

I don't really agree with much of his policy views, but I sort of like the gimmick of sleeping in a cot, in his office.
I kind of appreciate is country bumpkin-ness, because it seems without affectation.
I'm willing to give this guy a chance. He seems unique, at the very least, in a very corrupt and entitled atmosphere back there on the hill.

john

Jason Chaffetz is a pubilcity hound which means he is an egotist. He sends out more press releases than any other rep. He also picks issues that will assure him max press coverage. His cot thing is nothing more than a gimmick to keep him in the press. If you don't think so think back to the day reps were choosinf their office space. He conviently had his cot with him even though his family was in DC with him for the swearing in. He is vitrolic and obnoxious. He is a typical politician who tests the wind to choose his issues and will say anything to get what he wants regardless if it is the right thing to do.

falcon's beak

Jumpin Jack's comments are not very helpful. IF you don't like him say why. So far so good I say. considering the spendthrift Republicans of 200-206 he is an improvement. It won't be easy to limit the spending of the current administration.
