BRAVO to Rep. Steve Sandstrom for standing up to an intrusion in our privacy and an unfunded mandate to spend a huge sum of money on this bad project.

BEWARE OF FEDERAL "STIMULUS" MONEY. IT COMES WITH STRINGS ATTACHED, TOO!

Time for Utah to stand up for common sense, and resist silly federal mandates or tricky bribes.

What a bunch of hypocrites!

The Utah Legislature doesn't want to comply with this Federal law, because it might infringe on privacy.

But the Utah Legislature wants to start scanning drivers' licenses to go into a bar to buy a drink.

What a bunch of hypocrites! Only in Utah.

What??!!

Oh my!! Are we losing our minds? The Gov wanting to maybe put tranmitters in the ids and DLs. Has our country already come to this. Now its like the frog being put in cold water and slowly turning up the heat until the animal cooks. Is this what our forefathers fought and died for. To give ourselves over to the goverment. Why because we get a few pennies and federal health care? Being a citizen if this gets worse I may just live up in the mountains and learn to eat off the earth. As an american we are all entitled to privacy. Talk about big brother.

We want security and we want to deal with the illegal alien issues, but we don't the a little discomfort to achieve those goals. Compared to what being siphoned off of our economy, 20 to 80 mil might not be a bad price.

No Surprise

Democrats support philosophies that will make us all a part of the Borg.

You must be a Utahan to understand this position. What privacy do Utahans gain from opting out? Any federal agency, today can get your records.

Then, Utah isn't addressing private databases. Do you know what personal information corporations are selling about you? Do you know if its even correct?

I can get you credit reports, see any legal actions taken against you, were you live, you car, your family and your driving records all from private sources. You have no control who your data is sold to.

There are businesses that track you web surfing.

Having a standard date format used by all states making your data cheaper to manage, is a problem?

With access I can take you Utah DMV data and parse it out into any data format I want to have in formatted to. It's just cost and time.
