This bill is exactly what this state needs. We have task forces for every other type of crime, so why not one that targets a population with a disproportionate number of serious crimes? I hope that the funding is increased, to allow an expansion of this task force.

20 million illegal immigrant
pay a fine of $3,000 per head and
make them legal. AND save our
Housing Market. Do the Math

20,000,000 (illegal) x $3,000 = $60,000,000,000

Thats 60 BILLION into US Economy.

TIME TO PAY BACK

The bleeding hearts on this issue who are constantly whining about non criminal illegal aliens being rounded up are truly pathetic. Illegals are all criminals, they are all breaking the law, and every one of them need to be sent back to wherever they came and it needs to happen now.
If you want to create eleven million jobs for Americans then send that many illegals home and it will happen tomorrow. If you want to balance state budgets nationwide, eliminate overcrowding in schools, and solve raising healthcare costs the solution is the same.
The biggest benefit to sending them home will be a dramatic drop in the crime rate. Stop trying to separate the "criminals" out and wake up to the fact that they are all criminals, they are all here stealing jobs, education, and healthcare. They have no right to be here. Period.

The fastest way to bankrupt the US more would be to make illegals legal somehow. We can't afford that many new citizens, with all of the family members that new citizens would be able to bring into the country. There is no way it would cost less than $60 billion to do so.

Mark Shurtleff to run task force - What a Joke
Pay a fine, yikes!!!! | 7:58 a.m. Feb. 27, 2009
If we legalized the 20 to 30 million illegals, the first thing they will want is family reunification. That means an additional 100 to 125 million people entering the country in the next 10 years who have about a 2nd grade education, and all in spanish. How does that benefit America? It will result in America becoming just like Mexico, with its violence and poverty. Is that what you want America's destiny to be??? Not me.

All I can say is, "it's about time!" Illegal immigrants are, and have been, a huge problem for years. The federal government won't do anything because politicians are afraid they'll lose the Hispanic vote. States have to start taking care of themselves. If Gov. Huntsman is dumb enough to take stimulus money, I say we put the "Hollywood" marked funds towards this. We need to get businesses off the welfare of cheap illegals. The rest of us are picking up the cost by paying for their crimes.
A Step Forward | 11:04 a.m. Feb. 27, 2009
While I think that this bill is an excellent step forward, I disagree with Litvak that it should have supplanted SB81. Among other things, SB81 includes mandatory use of E-Verify by state contractors and is one of the most important tools we will have to combat illegal immigration. Let's get SB81 implemented on schedule and enact this this one too. I think E-Verify should be expanded to include ALL employers. Let's get the ball rolling!
