Defense makes difference. Okur came out big. How about that 2 3's. Korver start showing. Good win on road.

The Timberwolves Court...

is totally distracting. It hurts my eyes to watch. I can't figure out where to focus.

Rebound!

Rebound is mostly about effort and the Jazz were terrible most of the night. THAT was a pathetic display of effort.

Pathetic

The Jazz played pathetic especially the first team until about the 8 minute mark in the 4th Q. The Jazz interior defense was sick. K Love (rookie) and the two forwards tore the Jazz.

Brewer was a dud and DWill stunk in 3 and 1/2 Qs. Korver was +33 for the game. He as about the only reason the Jazz were not blown in the first 1/2.

But at 8 minutes AK started making stops. K Love disappeared, the forwards regressed. Brewer flipped a switch. Okur decided to play. The whole team started to function and the box score looks like a blow out.

Boozer played better on offense. However, the whole offense was out of sync. The Jazz got beat on the boards which is an indication of how much effort they did not put into this game for most of it.

This team does not look like a play off team. On the other hand they can turn it on when they want to.

It is hard to have faith in this team.

Sloan ran some interesting combinations. I think he played to win but tried to get Boozer integrated.

POR lost.

The "much maligned" Jazz defense saved us in the 4th quarter in particular Ron Brewer steals and deflections and AK. Kevin Love averages 10 points a game and he ate us alive in the 1st half, he and Ryan Gomes killed us. Our interior defense was awful. Boozers defense i admit not great, but defense sparked the offense as it helped in transition-Ronny Brewer, who at this pace, has a chance to be an all star next season, score 20. All in the 2nd half, and those 2 3 point plays huge. Deron Williams came on scoring, Miles had a nice game, Boozer a little more into it offensively, and Korver was great in the 1st half. Okur was solid all night offensively. Minnesota kept pace, but the defense picked up and they started turning ball over. Atlanta blew a big lead over Denver as Melo and Billups big games, but Portland now only 1/2 ahead-as Hot Rod would say "you gotta love it baby" 6 in a row!

Kevin Love

How can Jazz permit a rookie center to have a career night against them? 15 rebounds and half of them on the offensive board??? Why wasn't anyone boxing him out??? Not Boozer, not Memo, not anybody???!!!

Meanwhile, our two young centers are not having career nights. They are headed for Orem.

@ Pathetic

Did you just read the boxscore back to us all??? I thought this was a place to have discussions... Thanks for the recap though. I do agree with one thing though, the jazz just like most elite teams play down to thier competion. Since your good at boxscores, check out the Lakers record against sub-500 teams... Weaker teams always play up to the competition. At the end of the day, its a W, and this is no different than the other 34 previous victories. Go Jazz!

Its a good thing-

that the Jazz decided to play in the 4th quarter. Up to that point, the effort looked pretty lame to me.

Korver kept them in the game during the first half, and Brewer dominated in the 4th.

We'll take the "W"

GO JAZZ

Dan M

They may not have looked like a playoff team tonight but their recent wins against the Lakers, Celtics and New Orleans sure makes them look like a contender to me

I will take the Jazz

seriously when they win most of the games in the first 2 weeks of March (It only gets harder later). Wins over GS (handle a gun team on the road) and POR and DEN (at home)will boost the standings. However, the 5 game road trip against weak teams will be really telling. In the past the Jazz have been pathetic against weak teams on the road and then never turned it on at the end.

If they can't beat weak teams they will not beat strong teams on the road and they will be out of the playoffs. There is not much difference among the 3 thru 9 teams in the west. It is a matter of injury and effort.

The Jazz tendency to goof off and then turn it on at the end is not the attitude of a championship team. Boston does not take nights off. LA might but Boston does not. That is why LA is soft and can be beat. Kobe has a sore ankle. It may get worse.

Right now SA looks stronger than LA. Do you believe that Utah can beat SA in a 7 game series without home advantage?

There are 24 games left in the season for the Jazz. Let's not get over focused on any part of one game but keep your eye on the BIG PICTURE. A "W" is a "W." The other teams have to play out their schedules too. Each game has it's own story. It's good parts and it's bad parts but when we get a win, we'll take it. It is hard on some when the Jazz don't play perfect but that is the nature of the GAME. So let's tighten the belts and support the Jazz as best we can because we CAN enjoy the GAME!

7 back-to-backs

Seven back-to-backs in 24 games -- almost a third. That is a tough schedule...

Mike Miller

I can appreciate his talent, but does anyone else think that this guy really needs his butt kicked?
I can't stand his demeaner on the court.

jazz man

4 quater wasent about jazz def it was about back to backs by minn. they wore out. same team was in the first 3 quaters couldnt stop them even there outside shots werent dropping. trying to get boozer the ball going to hurt them against a rested good team.looks like now they focous is dont let milsap look to good then they might not have to pay him.

james

ok...it is a tough call...on one hand, I love to see the Jazz coming back to form...on other hand, a game like this, against a team slightly better than it's record, and we see a guy like Kevin Love score a career high in points mostly on layups..it stresses the soft interior defense and shows the Jazz are a 2 round playoff team at best...

too bad the Jazz could not get a lotto pick this yr and draft Griffin, who would be a significant upgade both in potential and defense over Booze

Does it sound like I am not a fan of Booze? I was until his mysterious hamstring injury a few yrs ago, and now his knee tendon injury..the ones that were so difficult to diagnose..I hope he opts out..and had to take a paycut

Wonder

SA is missing 2 major stars. They are playing great. You have to wonder if the system that SA employs is a superior system to the one that Utah runs.

You also have to wonder if the SA organization is superior to Utah's. SA gets no names for cheap and puts them into their roles and they function. Further, if a star goes down the role players step up and make up the difference.

Houston and PHO should lose tonight. The Houston loss is less probable. Cleveland is another team that seems to be able to handle injury well (not James).

If the Jazz get more than 50 wins this year they will be a battled hardened team by the playoffs. Their malaise on back to backs and the road will have been solved out of necessity to make the playoffs. At least they are starting to demonstrate some killer instinct.

What is it that creates that type of efficiency in SA?

Defense-Still Pathetic

We have been saying for a few years now that we need to play tougher "D". Well guess what it hasn't improved one bit. Take last night as a good example. Everytime a player took the ball to the paint or recieved a pass there, what do we do- right, leave our man to double that player up and leave our man wide open. This is the NBA folks, these players can hit open shots if not contested. Until this phony philosophy changes we will ALWAYS be a second rate team. If you don't think I'm right just watch the elite teams play defense. It sure doesn't resemble what we play. Also, has anyone seen a Jazz player box out another player to get a rebound? Pathetic!

Whats The Big Deal?

Minnesota is a bottom feeder without their best player. This Jazz bunch have a lot to prove before I'm getting serious about them.

Why do we always call them the "Pesky" Timberwolves? I've always found that so weird...

re: pathetic and rebound

A pathetic display of effort? Minnesota is one of the best rebounding teams in the league and we were only outrebounded by 4. I think a "pathetic display of effort" is a bit dramatic. Now to my friend "Pathetic" The Jazz are still gelling at this point in the season. They have only had their starting lineup twice now, and they still won by 17 on the road. We do not need Jazz fans that always whine and complain. Support the team if you want or don't, but quit complaining after a 17 point win on the road. The game was not the Jazz best performance but still got the job done.
