As a father of 3 boys it is awe-inspiring to read this story of such a courageous family. I am slated to go to Iraq this summer, and the only things that come to mind when I think about leaving are pride for our country and how much I will miss my family. I know SPC Alleman is watching over his family just as he was watching over our freedom. Thank you!

I serve on Fort Wainwright, Alaska. I am sorry to hear about your loss. You will see him again someday, and it will be a great family reunion. I am glad that your families outlook is so positive and bright. May it sustain you through the years to come. May we all never forget the great sacrifices that individuals and families are making everyday so that freedom will prevail. God bless you and your sweet family.

Michael Alleman was my son's 5th grade teacher and favorite teacher of all time! My son describes his first day in class with great enthusiasm and was thrilled by all of the Star Wars memorabilia. Mr. Alleman played rugby with my son and his friends at lunch and most importantly taught my son to love history. Mr. Alleman's encouragement and love for history spilled over into my son's class. He will always be rememebered in my son's mind and heart as a great influence in his life. We are very grateful for the book "1776" that Mr. Alleman gave to my son. It will always be a reminder of a hero in the classroom and on the battelfield. Mr. Alleman you made history in my peoples lives. Thank you!
Thank You | 4:31 p.m. Feb. 25, 2009
Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude and empathy for your family's sacrifice. Know that we are praying for your comfort in your hour of need and peace as you move forward without your husband and father. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Our hearts and prayers are with this fine family. We lived near the Alleman's when Michael was young and were so sorry to know this has happened to them. Having had our son serve and be injured in Iraq changes you. Freedom certainly isn't free. Great blessings and tender mercies will bring comfort in time. As an Army chaplain we have been blessed by the strength of many families. These fine men and women who serve in harms way deserve all our support and prayers.

We wish to express our deep appreciation for all your kind wishes, and mostly for your appreciation for our Micheal and his service to our country. It has brought us much needed peace realizing how many of you are truly grateful for his service and appreciative of his sacrifice. We have experienced such an outpouring of love and support from so many, and we truly thank you. This has been the hardest thing we have ever dealt with, and your words have brought us comfort and peace. We thank each one of you who has kept us in your thoughts and prayers.

There are not words created to express the honor I give to you and your family. Freedom is the greatest gift of God and only brave men and women who serve and are willing to sacrifice all are amongst the greatest of all men. My tears flow freely for your loss and I pray for your family and all others who have given the greatest devotion to this country.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this family. May God comfort them, may friends and family gather round and comfort and care for them. And from an American who is grateful for our military:
THANK YOU! YOUR SACRIFICE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!

From the men, women, families, and Chain of Command of 5th Squadron, 1st Cav Regiment, we send our heart felt prayers. I served with this unit during their 1st deployment, know all of the Senior Leaders of this Squadron, and I know their hearts ache. I am now stationed in Utah and teach ROTC at UVU and BYU. I am in contact with the Senior Leaders, through e-mail, and know how deeply affected they are by the loss of one of their own If I can do anything, please contact me.

When I read this article--one word sprang to mind: Hero. My heart is heavy for the loss of this brave soldier. Words aren't adequate to express my gratitude for his willingness to serve his country. May God bless his family and comfort them in this time of grief and pain.
Nan W | 9:31 p.m. Feb. 25, 2009
We all are deeply in debt to this man and his family for his sacrifice. It is wonderful that the family can cherish great memories.

I would have preferred more respectful wording in the first paragraph of the story, reporter.

Susan,

I just received the news today and was heartbroken. I've only known you for less than a year but you are one of the most genuine, kind, caring, selfless, and giving people I know. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I haven't met your son but he obviously has the same wonderful characteristics as you do. You have raised a national hero and you and your entire family are all hero's. You and your family are in my heart and in my thoughts and prayers. I was searching the scriptures tonight to find something of comfort to share. I came across this scripture in D&C 58:3 Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation. I believe your son and family will have your reward in heaven. I love you.

As a Mother of a US Army Soldier my heart aches for you and your sons. My son leaves for Iraq in April to serve the country he loves. God Bless you and your sons as well as the Families of all our Military Men and Women. Please pray for them as I will be praying for you and your family. You will always have 2 special reminders of the love that he has for you. Hold them close at this time and remember all that is good.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Boyd and Susan: I was so sorry to hear about Michael. I just wanted you to know how grateful we are for people like him who don't need to go, aren't required to go, but who choose to go and fight for our freedom. We owe an enormous amount of gratitude for people like Michael. Our family's prayers are with you all...especially his sweet wife and adorable little boys.

Our Friend, Our Teacher, Our Hero.

Mr. Alleman,

Words cannot express the gratitude I have for you in teaching my daughter not just math and science, but courage, honor and sacrifice. She will never forget these lessons. She will never forget the teacher that was willing to, and did, die for her. God bless your family and God Bless America.

To a dear and wonderful family,

I cannot comprehend the depth of your loss. I pray for you during this hard time, and think with fondness on the memories I have of Michael "back in the day" in Georgia. He is the kind of person that instantly brings a smile to my face whenever I remember him.

Much love. May God bless you, and all those who support our wonderful troops.

OK community. Let's step up and take care of the family. Who is leading that effort?
Joseph Atwater | 3:03 a.m. March 1, 2009
Let us first serve God before country, let us salute the Commandments of God before we salute the flags of men, let us lie down in death for the cause of God and for His fellowman, not in war but in peace, let us inlist in the battle to reclaim lives not take them. Bless those who in-list but rather those who in-list in the cause of righteousness rather than battles of men. In this there is Eternal Life, but in conflict, sorrows and silence. Let us build monuments with Ploughshares and not People. God bless our fallen, with Hope and renewed commitment to "Follow our Leader" not our leaders that they may receive a just reward.

So sorry for your loss. Michael's mother and I have worked together for years and she always swelled with pride when she spoke of her son and her grandsons. My heart is with all of you. May you know that we are praying for your days to follow and the honorable man that was in your life for such a short time! God Bless.
