Maybe Chris Buttars should help in this cause?

This is very sad and tiring....people used to be embarrassed and ashammed of bad behavior. Now they try to force it on all of us as though "it" was normal....it will never be acceptable or normal....and all the political correctness in the world will never change that fact.

Having worked among the polynesians,

I believe the polynesians will never allow this to happen.

In other comment boards the homos say that Utahns are backwards for not supporting the homosexual movement. Since half of states have recently passed defense of marriage amendments does that mean the homos are not telling the truth?

I am always so delighted to read the cringes from the hateful bigots when people in our nation take a step forward like this. Am I wrong for enjoying it so much? Candy.

Go Hawaii! Take a positive stand in favor of equality and individual liberty! Support civil unions and gay marriage!

When will society recognize that in order to remain great, it must embrace the values that made this Country great: honesty, morality, and charity.

The writer of this article neglected to include the state of New York in it list of states that allow civil unions, New York also recognizes same sex marriages performed in other states and is widely expected to pass legislation allowing gay marriage very soon and yes I am very proud of that!

Great post John maybe the conservatives will finally heed your call but dont count on it.

Are we going back through this topic again? The same arguments will be stated again and the same issues will be dragged through the mud. Laws are already on the books to allow for civil unions that recognize the same rights for all. Since this is about rights, it seems we have covered this. If we are debating acceptance then it is a different issue. Is there anything more that needs to be stated?
Here we go again... | 9:27 a.m. Feb. 23, 2009
The biggest fight being waged right now is the gay communities cry for acceptance. They will not lay low until this happens. Unfortunately we are going to here their cries until everyone in America and the world accepts their BEHAVIOR. They will not stop until we consider homosexuality as normal as walking down the street or saying 'hi' to your neighbor.

The fact is that homosexuality is not normal, nor will it ever be. We must continue to fight this type of BEHAVIOR. Let us be clear, it is a BEHAVIOR. I know this argument has be rehashed over and over, but it seems that so many are being deceived. It needs to be clear that no one is forced to act on their homosexual tendencies, but the more we as a society condone and accept this BEHAVIOR, the more rampant it will be. It is immoral, period.

I am tired of it being constantly shoved down my throat. Everytime I open the paper, turn on the radio or TV, and even drive down the road looking at billboards, it's in my face. I don't 'hate' those who practice it, but I do hate the BEHAVIOR.

I guess if Hawaii wants to become another San Francisco where all the gays flock to paradise to get their kicks off, then so be it. I just don't see any reason to visit there again...

America, land of the free.

Yeah, right.
you never know | 2:51 p.m. Feb. 23, 2009
Hawai'i may just support people having choice simply because the natives have suffered under illegal occupation by the US for decades. None of them were franchised when the vote was taken for statehood. Perhaps they will be willing to support another oppressed group.

There is no end to the ego of American patriots not satisfied with obtaining their desires. They want to foist their lifestyle and choices on everyone else. "You're free to choose as long as you choose what we allow you to choose."

Bah. Humbug.
re HOMO Hawaii.... | 3:20 p.m. Feb. 23, 2009
I wouldn't worry about that, I doubt most could afford it anyway, and likely neither can you.

DON'T!! do it Hawaii---unless you want your DOMA to be *history!*
Giving "civil unions" legal status in a state sounds so caring, fair, enlightened, etc---BUT---it is like inviting a camel to stick only his nose into your tent.

Anyone who researches the *history* and momentum of "civil unions" and "domestic partnerships" in other states KNOWS that a state which enacts "Civil Unions" is simply extending an invitation for GENDERLESS MARRIAGE---by way of an indirect process.

Take the history of "same-sex marriage" in Connecticut, for example. The legislature of Connecticut enacted "civil unions" in April 2005. Note that the legislation SPECIFICALLY stated that "marriage" was only for "a man and a woman," although "civil unions" would provide ALL of the "rights and benefits of marriage" that the state was empowered to grant.

But NO!! That was not good enough for the GLBT activists, as they screamed "Separate is not equal!!" (They had actually filed suit against the state in Kerrigan vs. Connecticut PRIOR to the April 2005 civil unions legislation; and did not drop the suit after that landmark legislation.) They lost, initially, but on appeal four UNELECTED, JUDGES DICTATED same-sex "marriage!"

Same candy bar different wrapper. When will GLBT group understand the majority of folks don't agree with or condone their "CHOICE" in lifestyle. Give over it, it's NOT normal. If you think the USA is bad try living the GLBT lifestyle in Saudi Arabia, Iran, or United Arab Emerates.
Hey Blondie | 9:18 a.m. Feb. 24, 2009
Try practicing your Religion in Saudi Arabia--on second thought, if you want to keep your hand, I wouldn't.
RE: Hey Blondie | 5:32 p.m. Feb. 24, 2009
So what religion are you assuming Blondie is a part of? You have no knowledge, but you are assuming, which makes YOU a BIGOT.
Bob | 9:12 a.m. Feb. 26, 2009
I would dearly like to see anyone who uses the term "normal", actually define what they mean when they say whether or not something is "normal".

God is a Holy God... Think about it ... you think that we should keep the Bible and God out of our state and lifestyles...look at what is happening to our world. There is no sanctity in marriage, children are being brought father/motherless, the righfull place of a husand and a wife has been distorted, the importance of family has been deteriorated, people are becoming self centered instead of selfless, we want to live our own lives our own way, we no longer know or are able to experience true love, unfailing , love unconditional love, our world as we know it is already chaotic , we look to therapist, and books to give us answers.. but litte do we realize that there was a book written long ago, inspired by God for us which is the Holy Bible. The Holy Bible has never been proven inaccurate and obtains all the answers we need. God created a man and a woman not a woman and a woman or visa versa. Allowing this civil union to pass will murder the sanctiy of marriage and confuse our generations to come because children need both a mother and a father.
