I am so excited to see these documents or just some of them. I have been a member of the church 75 years and anything that enhances my knowledge I am wanting to learn. I teach the Gospel Doctrine in my small branch in Ticaboo Utah and am gaining such a greater love for Joseph Smith and what he did for the world. Teaching the Book of Mormon last year and now the Doctrine and Covenants this year makes it so very wonderful to study an pray and ponder to teach these eternal truths. To find added information through these papers will be a great desire for me personally.
Now if they could find that insidious gold tablet edition of the BOOK OF MORMON?
Will the Bankruptcy filing documents Joseph Smith did be part of the record?
What about Joseph Smith's treasure hunting documents and his court prosecution records for same? His order to destroy the Nauvoo Expositor? Just how complete will this collection be?
I would like to know more about Joseph Smith's "ZELPH" papers?
For you all asking the questions, remember this is just the first volume, and is only from 1831 to 1839. Nauvoo wasn't around then. Also, as I understand it there will be a volume on all of his court proceedings. No matter what, they'll never be able to answer all questions, nor will they be able to satisfy everyone. Does any book?
Don't expect too much of church exposing of mormon history. They will display what makes them look good but they are not going to hang out any of their dirty laundry for view. They are experts at PR>
I'm sure these papers will be just as valuable and authentic as the papyrus documents written in reformed Egyptian won't they?
If your going to allow these historical documents to 'speak for themselves', then why do you need so many exclusively LDS EDITORS? Because they need editing?
Will these papers include Joseph's marriage records to other girls and women (including those who were already married)? Certainly such marriages were recorded. Or are they too "sacred" to publish in this collection?
Yeah, I'm not expecting anything great to come out of Mormon History. It has been rewritten too many times. Brigham Young was the greatest account of rewriting history. Joseph Smith is next in line for the same darn thing.
9 posts on here and I believe 7 are awful negative and hate filled sarcasm. Why are Mormons considered haters when it is clear who the haters really are. What are you people so afraid of? I bet there will be 10 posts saying that the LDS church is tantamount to facism and that the Church is going to run everyone's lives. Yet, amidst all of this, the mornonic American people just elected a man whose entire goal is to rob freedom at every turn under the guise of FREEDOM!!! How blind we are. WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE AFRAID OF????!!!!! Leave the Church alone.
This is a wonderful project. Any and all primary source information is a gift to those who wish to learn from the source. I find it sad that negative comments are forthcoming even before release. I realize it is often more satisfying to continue to repeat oft repeated (rumors) rather than make learned decisions. Manners and common sense would dictate that the mateials be read in entirety before judgments are made.

THEeyepatch, your insinuation is that you would believe in the divinity of The Book of Mormon if only you could see it and hold it. In short, you want physical proof, a "sign".
Do you not remember what Christ said about those who asked for signs?
Matthew 16:4 - "A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign..."
To count yourself among those who ask for physical proof before you will believe is to count yourself among the wicked and adulterous of heart. If that is what you wish for, then so be it.
However, there is a way to believe, even a way to come to a sure and confident knowledge of the truth of the Book of Mormon without receiving physical proof. It is to ask God if the book is true. But ask in faith, R-E-A-L faith (James 1:5), being TRULY willing to conform your life to His answer or He will honor your wish to not know and remain silent, for God will force no man to heaven.

Sandy, sadly, you appear to be a small minded and cowardly individual. God has offered you the fruit of heaven and you have turned your back upon it. He still calls for you.
Gratefully, the caravan moves ever onward.
Because they are being transcribed from handwritten notes and (among Mormons and anti-)it will be a higher-profile profile publication of LDS property. That's why there are so many LDS editors.
Don't worry, these papers won't help anyone prove or disprove the LDS church's truth anymore than anything else has.
Read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. That's about all I can suggest in that regard.
The negative posts on here simply add to the proof that members can leave the LDS church but they can't leave the Church alone.
They hate it when that is said but they attack it in droves nonetheless, like moths to a flame.
I sincerely wish them the best for I have sympathy for them, however, what will help them they refuse to accept.
Such is life.
Anonymous,
I can't help wondering who were the persons that edited the Holy Bible under King James! Were they all christiens or were there any other religions involved that didn't believe in Christanity?
Please don't spread your own agenda in your comments!
Will I need a urim and thummin to read these papers or will a hat suffice? You Mormons are too sensitive. Don't confuse logic with hate.
Well, my opinion to all of you posters-- believe whatever makes you feel happy-- Um, I do, and I am very happy. Truth? who knows what that may be??? Happy? yes, indeed I am. May you all have a nice life ;o}
Oh yeah, Please quit the name calling on here because someone doesn't agree with you, because your true colors are coming forth loud and boisterous. Go read some Joseph Smith papers and confuse yourselves a bit more ;-[ Cheers!
