We are creating a metro police force. I appreciate Chief Steve Chapman's vision for our future. Maybe now the sheriff's office can JOIN us in the metro polce dept. This is a monumental day! Great Job.
This alliance does not mean an alliance in policing efficiency and law enforcement. Where we need an alliance is in law enfocement that eliminates boundaries for apprehension of criminals and chasing criminals from one district to another. And most important, sharing information about criminals and their activities across city lines. A wanted criminal in one city is not a wanted criminal in other cities so the same crimial victimizes many cities until he is accidentally caught, maybe. But maybe this will get them talking to start sharing other more important policing functions.
