Comments about ‘Obama signs massive stimulus package’

Took him long enough. The thing was passed days ago in a rush.

The government has no business messing around with the economy. The only purpose of government is to protect us from crime and from foreign invasion.

What a shame. Pres. Obama had enough political capital to actually make a differece, change the way things were done. Instead he allowed Pelosi/Reid to force through a ridiculous spending package that will do very little to help our economy.

This bill violates almost all of the principles he eloquently espoused in his books and campaign speeches.

And for all those who try to deflect blame from Obama to Bush - no dice. Yes, BUsh made a mess of things and incurred trillions in debt and was a bad president by most standards. But Obama made promises when elected that he would change America's politics, and he is failing miserably.

How many thousand of dollars did it cost for Obama to fly to Denver, Colorado in his new jet to sign the stimulus bill when he could have stayed in Washington D.C. and signed it. This is not setting a good example to all of those using their corporate jets for much the same thing. Not a very wise thing for a new president to do especially in such a time of bad economic times. It seems that Government has the mentality that money grows on trees. We are all in a world of hurt! God help us all.

I think Bush and his cronies were thieves and tyrants, too. So don't get the idea that you can bash me on a partisan basis. This is all about principles. It's all about not taking things that don't belong to you.

Why would he waste so many taxpayer dollars in this economy to fly over 2000 miles to sign a bill...not to mention the added security measures for the city of Denver to facilitate...he could have saved a ton of time & resources just signing the bill in the oval office!

Obama just paid for millions of democratic votes. Hopefully he won't get them. What a scam!

Why are "your" elected officials completely ignoring the laws of economics?

How will spending almost a trillion dollars get us out of an economic Depression that is comming?

Why doesn't the Deseret News have enough common sense to point out that it is our money that the new president is planning on spending and it will only result in more tyranny from our government.

The stimulus bill has a provision to take out E-Verify. So much for the protection of Legal and American workers. So much for the protection of your childrens I.D.

"Millions of jobs to be created." This bill will reflect what happened after Katrina. Workers exploited by unethical contractors.

"Spread the wealth" Your tax dollars at work for the next 100 years. This is the fastest way to gain power and control of US businesses and the people that I have ever seen. What are we compromising? Oh just our everyday freedoms. How many strings will be attached to this one?

I wonder how many more times we will try to artificially stimulate our economy before the united states goes bankrupt.
Any country that lends us more money would have to be foolishly optimistic to believe that we will ever be able to repay it.

Interesting...now we're going to be in huge depression because of the "Messiah" Obama. No wonder the Church kept saying stock up on food storage. I'm moving to Canada so I don't have to live under this jerk.

Too bad the government has forgotten whose money they are spending and who are vowed to serve.

It's time that the people bring to task the government officials much the way they did to the bankers and auto makers.

Didn't the senate criticize the auto makers for flying corp jets to D.C. and call it fiscally irresponsible. If the country is in financial crisis and their means of income is taxation, shouldn't they be called to task for irresponsible spending when they are in debt trillions of dollars and are now borrowing 800 billion more.

There are tons of places that could be cut without impacting programs for those in need. EX Pres. offices, travel budgets, Pelosi's jet, redecorating the White House, huge Inauguration's, ...

It's time Washington took a hard look at their own wasteful spending.

We get ourselves into such an insurmountable debt that we will find ourselved selling off our feathers to the FOX until the fox deems we are no longer able to fly and then we will end and the fox will have won.
