"Obama ... may have painted himself into a political corner", prominent conservative attorney Kenneth W. Starr told a crowd of LDS attorneys.
Yeah, I'll bet he did. Did he also tell those "LDS attorneys" that their politics make the same thing difficult?
One side (Starr and his audience) is full of hate; the other side's trying to bring people together.
Why would one side continue to engage in the hate?
That's what's been wrong with our country since the so-called "moral majority" (evangelicals who hate the LDS) rose up.
Politics stink.
The Constitution is being desecrated by these partisan attacks on qualified judges. The Constitution calls for the appointment of judges qualified by training and experience to carry on the work of the judiciary. Politicians who insist on judging the judges based on their political beliefs are making a mockery of the system.
You're right; that's why it's the right thing to do, to investigate Bush's firing of qualified judges that Karl Rove didn't like.
This was addressed to a "crowd of LDS attorneys?" Who meet together why, because all LDS attorneys think alike? I am picturing crowds of native American, gay, neo-Nazi, Subaru-drivers, wine snob, deer hunter, and other subgroups out there having confabs...let's quote from THEIR meetings, must be a slow news day.
Dear Slagg500: Bush did not fire judges. He fired a handful of U.S. Attorneys. Did you know Clinton fired EVERY single U.S. Attorney when he entered office? I doubt you know what a U.S. Attorney is.
is the word dems use when they cannot say much of anything about a subject, but want to reserve the right to reopen the subject at some future time to whine and complain.
Re: It Works Both Ways...as to why would one side want to continue hate....what planet have you been living on your whole life? Our two-party system is set up in order to be antagonistic. This is so no one political faction (read special interest) can totally control all issues or the whole country.
So far the dems, with their "we won so we are getting our way" tone are sounding like a gang of fledgling 3rd world dictators.
Remember this is supposed to be Obama's "honeymoon" that all presidents (except republicans) tradionally receive.
The reason for sour discourse from the republicans is because the dems, in their zealous single-mindedness, after some victories, will over-reach in power grabbing and try to emulate 3rd world dictators. Just wait and see.
To quote Limbaugh, a bag of "you know what" can be placed in front of a dem, tell the dem the bag is there and the dem will still step in it.
If the events of the last few weeks show anything, it's that Republicans have no interest in bipartisanship. So Obama just needs to steamroll right over them. He's got the votes now, and by 2010 there won't even be 40 Republican senators to abuse the filibuster process.
Couldn't happen to a nicer group of folks!

Exactly how many politicians did you really believe, or do you really expect, want bipartisanship? Exactly none. Obama is no different, recent Congresses are no different, nothing has changed. Every one of them has their agenda. Sometimes they work across the aisle, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they have valid and strong principles that direct their voting, sometimes it's a mind game and partisan sniping.
Exactly how are democrats showing their bipartisanship?
They are NOT.
Let's not forget those republicans in congress won their election as well.
And they MUST represent what their constituencies want.
George: for your information, Clinton actively supported US Attorney Paul Warner because Republican Senator Orrin Hatch wanted him in office.
A little poetic justice then, when Judge Roberts slipped up on the oath of office.

You're right; that's why it's the right thing to do, to investigate Bush's firing of qualified judges that Karl Rove didn't like.
What??? Bush fired no judges, qualified or otherwise.
First off, THERE IS NO bipartisan work going on in Congress, the Dem's have closed door secret meetings, and the Repub's can only talk to themself out on the open floor only. The "OPEN" bipartisan work was ONLY talk. That's all it was, while we all suffer more. AND the Repub's can't and don't DO NOTHING about it but whine about it when the TV camera's are on them only. AND THEY WORK FOR YOU?!. Now, that's a laugh. They work for lobbiest's only. Get use to it. Is this what they call those log cabin Republican's, that tap their shoe 3 times in a men's rest room to?. And do nothing for the American people. I remember, that Mormon guy, on that TV Game Show called Jeopardy, that could not stop winning, and was up to a million dollars, and was asked the question of; "Who is Mary Judd"?. After several seconds, while in that category of people, he could not come up with the right answer and lost. Then, the correct answer was given to him. It was; "the men in California do what"?. "Mary Judd."
