It is about time that researchers recognized that for our society to survive, we must return to the values that were taught in the past. Society must support the efforts of parents to teach children honesty, civility, and respect for authority.

Provacative and true

The family that plays seperately usually doesn't stay together. I have felt for many years that involving children in a barage of activities as unhealthy and causing disfunctional families. A few generations of children have already been affected by this type of lifestyle. Family time, like meal time is important and may be the most beneficial time a family spends together. Lifestyles are so disfunctional that every child spends most of their time alone in their rooms playing games, watching TV's, or surfing on the internet on PC's. Parent should have full control of their children, in their homes, in and out of schools or meandering in public. Parents should be disceplining children as needed to instill character, respect, and caring for others. Parenting is a never ending fact of life and involvement of family continues until all memory is lost through the generations. Family is permenant, friends are temporary influences. Many parents have been convinced that a child activily involved in many outside activities were happy children, but it only created disfunctional unhappy families. More emphasis needs to be put on parenting and family to reunite them as a sacred unit.

I agree with the basic premise of the article, but since when are individuality and competition "toxic"? Aren't those two principles what our political and economic systems are based upon?
