It's always exciting when you get to see your kid's picture in the newspaper! That's a nice shot, you girls played hard and you've had a rough season. Enjoy the few games you have left...for some of you it will be the last time(s) you play together.

On a C-Wood note...I heard Ms. Moreno had an awesome game as well. Nice job, Lyss!

These girls have really worked hard we are excited to see them improve with each game. We also thought that Alyssa Moreno was a huge influence on the defensive side. Alyssa really makes a difference in the game whenever she is in. She is also a great leader on this team.

I don't like it when CWood wins. I would prefer they lose.

re: Colts

I hope your not a Cottonwood student because that is the stupidest comment I have seen on these blogs!!!!!

I want to congratulate the Cottonwood girls basketball team for making the state playoffs. The one who should be congratulated is last years coach Matt Baumann. He is the one who put this team together and molded this team. If he was this years coach there is no doubt the colts would have won first place. In reality for how weak this region 6 was this year with the tops players in the region all graduated and most of the Lady Colts returning really they should have won Region 6 or at least took second. The team has not beaten any of the top teams ahead of them Murray,Highland, or Olympus. The team has only beaten teams with losing records. Good luck Lady Colts in the playoffs. The girls have really done well with the lack of coaching they have had from a rookie coach.

This program has had 4 head coaches in 5 years. I doubt ANY school has had that amount of turnover. Dani Peterson and Jenteal Jackson both lived in the Cottonwood boundaries but choose to go to Skyline where the coaching/recruiting was better/consistent and it got them D1 scholarships. The girls who stayed at Cottonwood and have adjusted to three different head coaches deserve all of the credit/success they have had this year. The girls BB team has had its best season ever since DNEWS kept its online records (2001). It is tough to be a new coach and it is tough to adjust to a new coach. This team has not played its best yet. If they want to, they can still improve. This is the time to do it and carry the momentum into next year. Congrats Angie and Erica on Academic All State Honors!!! It is time to bring this team together and play like you know you ALL know you can. You still have something to prove this year.

That comment about poor coaching this season was absolutely ridiculous! The lady colts have had a better coaching staff this year than ever before. Anyone who tries to deny that is crazy! Though they may be first year coaches, they've brought out the best in every player on that team. The turnaround that I've seen as a result of their efforts is incredible. Team unity is much better, and for the first time, I can tell that the girls are actually being taught correct basketball skills. The hard work and dedication the Cottonwood coaches have put towards the program has not gone unnoticed. No other coaches could've made the drastic improvements that were made this season. Though the colts didn't finish at the top of Region, they still exceeded expectations. It is a shared responsibility of both the players and coaches. Everyone makes mistakes, but unless they do, they can't get better. So give 'em a break! I'm proud of the colts, and especially their coaches for overcoming so many challenges this season. Keep up the great work - don't let anyone's negative comments discourage your great efforts!
