Should the media be exempt from rules that govern the rest of us? If you think the media cannot be used for destructive purposes, watch Absence of Malice. Without media subpoenas, people could suffer.

Thomas Jefferson was a strong proponent of freedom of the press. Yet he realized that an out of control press corps was harmful to society. We cannot allow the press to print whatever it wants without consequences.

We all have the right of free speech and privilege to talk or not. Especially among family and close friends where their conversations are priveleged. The home is a sanctuary for families to be ones of trust and confidentiality. The legal system uses coerertion and threat and harassment to force people to break and abuse the freedom of speech. Often times leading to a case of injustice and misuse of coerced information. Then many times the news media has been a stumbling block in the release of news under the freedom of speech reporting. The press is often times restricted by political pressures and law enforcement from printing the real facts and real information we have a right to as citizens.
