Wasn't it just a Nerf gun and nothing more? The cops are blowing this thing way out of proportion, lol!

Gun = tool of intimidation

When misused guns can be a mear tool of intimidation. It doesn't matter if the gun is real, or if the person even has a gun, if they threaten to use a gun to settle difference the result it the same... Intimidation.

People need to be punished for using the fear of life ending violence as a tool to intimidate others. It doesn't matter if the gun is real or if the threat is real.

Lesson learned

Doesn't matter, bluffing can have real consequences. Saddom bluffed about nukes, look where that got him.

to Jordan

You dipstick, how is anyone supposed to know if the gun is real or not until it is too late. The victim was threatened and he is the one who asked to cops to intervene and protect him from a credible threat. Give the cops credit for doing a good job.

Common Sense

He was booked for "investigation of aggravated assault"?

It was an airsoft gun. They shoot hollow, plastic balls that are quite a bit larger than a BB. The balls shoot pretty fast and might sting but they're not going to cause any bleeding and they certainly won't result in a trip to the hospital. I bought one for my youngest son when he was 9.

Let's hope that the consequence of the "crime" turns out to be a judge yelling at the guy for acting stupid.

Only a die-hard liberal would scream "He had a gun! Convict him!"

More Common Sense

How about this?

If you use a fake gun to commit a crime, how about the judge awarding a fake prison sentence?

Hey Jordan, are you serious? "it was just a Nerf gun"?? Does it need to be fired at the officer first in order to determine if it IS real? I'm sure Lehi PD is just blowing it out of proportion. I mean, this is the department that just had a veteran officer, Harold Terry, shot in the head, and luckily survived. And it is the same department that did not have luck when another officer, Joseph Adams, died after being shot in 2004. ARE YOU SERIOUS??!! I'm sure you can see why they take caution with reports of weapons..I'm sure that even your brain can see that it doesn't matter if it fake or not, as long as it has the APPEARANCE of being a weapon...or maybe your brain can't...

It always amazes me when I read these articles how it is that anyone can think that it's no big deal to threaten someone with using a gun against them as long as you don't actually have a real gun. But from reading these comments, apparently there are a lot of people who just don't get it.

Scary!

wow..

gunshy

Anyone who has EVER had a gun pointed at them will understand the reaction. When someone, in anger, points a device at you that even remotely APPEARS to be a gun, you find some real challenges in maintaining sphincter control. You focus on the HOLE pointed at you, not at much of anything else, since it just might be the last thing you see. To suggest that police overreact just because the "gun" turns out to be less-than-lethal is entirely illogical. Obviously the person wielding the weapon fully intended for the victim to believe, unquestioningly, that a)this is a real gun and b) I am going to use it on you. And THAT, in legal terms, is a felony: assault.
Besides, your pants have already suffered for your belief...

unbelievable

To "Common Sense" (obviously an oxymoron) if the "airsoft gun" is so inherently harmless that it "certainly won't result in a trip to the hospital", perhaps you would be willing to place the end of the barrel up to your eye and pull the trigger....

using force or FEAR is considered strong arming n e ways... Real Gun Fake Gun, No Gun. who gets a weapon over a cigarette? i mean come on there is obviously more to this story.
