Former Democrat

I was young and naive once.

Then I got a job, bought a house, and started paying taxes.

Instant Republican.

Former Democrat

Wow, taxes turned you into a democrat? How short-sighted of you. Sure money is tight for most people. But its a lot tighter for loads of people without jobs and homes. Meanwhile the top execs all get bonuses for scoring on receiving bailout funds.

Should have said "Taxes turned you into a Republican?"

Your simplistic view of politics and the world assures me that you belong to the Republican persuasion.

Believe it or not, many young democrats have careers, jobs and pay taxes.

Utah's youth to compete in the global society must be exposed to something that is not associated with selfish monetary renumeration and screw thy neighbor if he don't agree. Cuz I'm from the chosen ones and don't abide by man's plight.

It is great to see such an organization in Utah. Keep up the good work!!!

Great

It is really great to see the Young Dems of Utah being so proactive. It is much needed and welcomed in this state. Keep up the good work!

Re: Former Democrat

So what you are saying is... You used to care about people but then after you got a job, a house and started to pay taxes that priority switched and you only cared about yourself... Yeah you are a Republican! Good Job! Did you know that you can have a job and a house and still care about your fellow man!

Old Democrat

I am very impressed with the Young Democrats of Utah. Being a Democrat in Utah is not easy but young people like these are changing the political face of Utah. Keep fighting the good fight, your efforts are paying off!

Daschle, Rangel, and Geithner

Given the number of prominent Democrats in the news recently who haven't paid their taxes, it's understandable for someone to assume that the only people who do actually pay their taxes are Republicans.

So these young people first had to be convinced the ethics of politics is bad; also, I can guess these young people's views on gay issues and abortion, since the writer steers away from that.

You'll miss these Democratic youths when they leave Utah, they'll take the creativity and vigour that makes the difference if a State thrives or fails.
Your own bigotry will launch their departure, and you'll have no one to blame but YOURSELVES.

Re: mark

It would be nice if liberals actually did leave Utah, but alas, they continue to stream in by the thousands from the Socialist Worker Paradises their political beliefs helped create in California, New York, and other "blue" states.

Having seen what their "tolerance" has created in other parts of the country it's no wonder that most Utahns want nothing to do with Democrats.

Like you, they love to bash Mormons and Utahns as being narrow-minded and intolerant but when it comes down to where they really want to live, This Is The Place.
