I enjoyed reading this story. We can all do great things if we only take God as our partner and try.

Doug

Who was the original owner who developed the drive-through lube concept and opened the original store? How did he come up with the idea? You wouldn't know from reading this weak article.

Who WERE the creators?

Why does no one mention the original creators of the business?

Fred Self:
I can assure you that God was NOT part of that plan. In fact, that's probably why no one's giving credit to these people.

Why not, Standard? How about the TRUE history of that business?

Jeremy

They ran an investigative news report on local TV here in San Diego last year, where they checked a dozen fast-lube stores for honesty. For example, the reporters marked the oil filter with a magic marker, and had a secret camera filming the "oil change".

The results were shocking. Over half of the stores, including Jiffy Lube stores, did some form of dishonest practice. Many never replaced the filter. Some didn't even drain the oil. But they all charged full price.

Moral of the story: be vigilant. Don't trust every fast lube store.

Jiffy Lube will scam you on every service they provide. I took my car in for an inspection and before I stepped foot out of my car they were hounding me to try their headlamp cleaning for $35.00. I said no thanks and went ahead and asked for just an inspection. Well, they failed me. They failed me because my headlamps were too dirty. I tried to reason with them. I asked the technician to explain to me how my headlamps are being tested. His way of inspecting was to turn on my headlights (in daylight might I add) and motion his hand across the stream of beaming light. See the technician said, Your lights need to be cleaned. Jiffy Lube had me pigeon tied. I could not leave without paying. What was I to do? I paid the failed inspection fee and headed to a non-corporate business. This small business inspected my car and tested my lights with a handheld light meter. The serviceman said your headlights are fine but will need to be replaced in a couple of years. I paid my dues and was back on the road. Jiffy Lube is bad for America.

Happy Anniversary

I live in Ogden and I've always had a great experience at Jiffy Lube. They always help me understand what my car needs and they're very professional. They always show me what they've done. CONGRADULATIONS!

Shawn

Congratulations to a great organization. Jiffy Lube has always treated me fairly and has done a terrific job. This company deserves "cudos" for 30 years in business. I wish them continued success.

Over the past 20 years I have lived in several parts of the country and I have been using Jiffy Lube for all the vehicles wherever I live during the past 20 years. Service is always friendly and fast. The drive thru, no appointment oil change is a great concept. Congratulations Jiffy Lube on your anniversary and thanks for helping me keep my vehicles running well!

Hello, I am actually a Griffin and operate all of the Jiffy Lubes in the mentioned article. Jiffy Lube technically started in 1973 by Ed Washburn. He kind of created the first "roll ramps" to drive on and save time. In 1979 Jim Hindman was a college coach and one of his athletes challenged him to make another successful business. They bought Jiffy Lube and founded Jiffy Lube International. They began franchising, and the rest is history. I am sorry for any of those who may have had a bad experience at Jiffy Lube, I teach my people to provide the highest customer service.
