If Yocum/Swenson weren't so shady the law would not have been needed in the first place. When they only placed early voting locations in Democratic areas of Salt Lake County the legislature took appropriate action.
The comment from "court" is absolutely false! In 2006, at our own discretion and before the legislature passed the law requiring Salt Lake County to place an early voting location in every senate district, we ran early voting at Riverton City Hall, Sandy Library, Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center, Bingham Library (West Jordan), Taylorsville City Hall, Murray City Hall, Kearns Oquirrh Fitness Center, West Valley City Hall, Central City Recrecation Center & Northwest Recreation Center. How could this possibly be construed as placing early voting only in Democratic areas? I will gladly provide information and maps to anyone who wants to review all of our early voting locations. We always make sure early voting locations are placed throughout the entire County so all the voters will have convenient access.
Hey! Sherrie Swensen actually gets involved in even in public communication on the Internet - high tech.
Nice to see her still operating like the Energizer Bunny, she keeps going and going and going, like forever. See you in the next century.
Sherrie Swensen is one of the most professional and well-respected election officials in the country. Her longevity in the office should serve as testament to the good work she has done. I have worked elections all over the country and Salt Lake County is has about the best-run elections I have seen.
Wow, Tab Uno, I have not seen you around for ages... since the run for office in Davis County.
If one legislator had a problem with where Sherrie puts early voting locations this is no big deal... but when all the Republican legislators in her county have a problem it is another matter. I had thought part of the job of an election official is to create trust in the fairness and objectivity in how elections are run... she obviously needs to sit down with her legislators and work something out.
