Mr. Iwasaki,
I was also there Friday night, but the show I saw was not the same one you describe.
You describe the story as cheesy. But it wasnt the story the old battle between good and evil, where with persistence and a strong will, darkness is overcome -- that entertained. One goes to see "The Lord of the Dance" for the dancing, and in this, no one was disappointed.
From the start of the show right through to the wild encore, the dancers captivated the audience with the rhythm of their feet and the art of modern and traditional dance to illustrate a Celtic journey that ends with victory. Simply put, the inspiration and energy of this show swept me up.
Each and every dance episode depicted both the skill and precision of individual and group dance scenes and included syncopated footwork that was absolutely stunning to watch. Every dancer was strong and capable and certainly a star in his or her own right. The production was at its best when the entire company was on stage, thrilling and amazing us at their coordination and unity.
Im sorry you missed it.
If you read Mr. Iwasaki's review, he does say the dancing was good. It was the story that was cheesy.
PLease re-read the review. You will see that Mr. Iwasaki reviewed the performance as a whole piece.
His review was fair.
