Right after giving birth to my first child and I heard her cry for the first time, immediately I thought, "Someone needs to get that baby's mother." And then of course it came to be pretty shortly after that,"I'm that baby's mother!"

I have now been her mother for 18 years. Motherhood is not automatic and about the time you get one stage down your child moves onto another, or you have more children.

I've eaten many words that I had spoken before I had children of my own.

I now have 4 teenagers and a nine year old. I think I've figured out now that I AM the mom, and I'm really enjoying it!
