Alpine district will get 2 new schools

Alpine has schools that sit idle much of the time (afternoons and summers). If their focus was to save taxpayer money (or tighten their belt during this economic downturn) then they could use their existing buildings more efficiently. Instead they call for raising taxes and building more Taj Mahals.
The bond for this construction passed in 2006 and has already been issued. Now is a good time to build much needed schools because construction costs are down. Again, the bonds were authorized three years ago. This is not a new tax increase. Apparently charters aren't posing too much competition for Alpine since the district grew by 2,000 students last year alone. As long as folks keep having babies, schools are going to have to be built. If you want a moratorium on schools, then a moratorium on children needs to happen first. Alpine could consider year round schools, but that idea isn't too popular with parents as of yet and they have the final say whether you like it or not.
If it weren't for Charters ASD would have grown by 5,000 last year.
People aren't falling for this kind of garbage anymore.
We know we are getting a bargain out of our public schools and teachers.
We thank them for their work and efforts.
To all of the other whackos out there, your time has passed. Time to move on to Idaho or Montana where your garbage might be listened to.

Eagle Mountain has another school besides the "only other school" as quoted in the paper.
Currently operating Alpine schools in Eagle Mtn:
Pony Express Elementary
Hidden Hollow Elementary
Eagle Valley Elementary
This will be the cities fourth Alpine elementary school. I don't know who made the mistake, Alpine District Spokesperson or Desnews?
