Ralph Becker has never been afraid for advocating for higher citizen financial contributions to government. As a legislator, he favored higher taxes on businesses and higher income people while supporting tax breaks for our retail, our most important business sector.
May they stew in the mess they've made. Who was in charge of upkeep of the building?
The police are hard up for funds, but so are we. I do sincerely sympathize but more debt is surely not the answer.
Why not do something really unusual and set a good example by budgeting. If you need to find money then cut somewhere else.
When, if ever, will you get the message?
Many of us look on the D. News as having an association with a particular Church of which many of us are members.
I do not think that I am alone in being puzzled why so many editorials are suggesting debt as an answer to problems, when we are being counseled to avoid debt like a plague.
Has the Deseret News been hi-jacked by apostates or antis?
The current emergency infrastructure of Salt Lake City is woefully inadequate for any serious catastrophe. Should the Big One hit (whether that be an earthquake, civil unrest, etc.), the city will be hard pressed to continue functioning. Last year police communications was brought down by a moderate rain storm. Who doesn't think that the city can and should prepare better for disaster?
