At this point the Jazz are not a good team. Even with a healthy Boozer they are not a great team. They do not have the depth at C/F to win back to backs or win on the road against good teams (even against not very good teams).
They need to make a move. Tonight they gave the Rockets the first Q. The dug a giant hole. Sloan needs a new starting line up and that does not mean playing Collins. Yes I know Collins is in there to get fouls on Ming.
Harp will never be the same player. AK has played hurt for several games and his numbers show it. All 3 of the Olympians have had a rough year. Okur disappeared tonight. Koufos was not effective.
The Jazz need one more good big. They also need defense at guard.
If the Jazz are serious about winning they need to use some resources and solve some problems. The resources they have saved up are of no value if they do not have enough effective players to make the playoff much less advance.
Another slow start on the road costs us.
Check out Boston v Miami played today. Thats how a road team needs to start, with energy and pupose.
Sloan is well past his used by date! Time for your slippers, some warm tea and a nana nap on your farm you love so much. Get some urgency and new ideas round the place or D Will and the rest are wasting their time and talent at Utah.
Why ya man so unhappy. Jazz almost pulled. They played good except some down stretch. DWill still have some costly TO's at end of game. So it was good game.. little short...
When you do the same thing for 21 years, you get the same results.
Couple that with a team that has no direction on the road and the playoffs look dim.
If the Jazz had a sense of urgency for the full 48 min we would be a very tough team to beat. The Jazz always end up playing at the level of their opponents and then try to make a run at the end. The Rockets played well, but you could also tell they wanted to win more then the Jazz.
I also think Sloan's "make them get it from the line" mentality gets misinterpreted by the players and they foul way too often.
It is interesting to me what has been happening over the last few games.
I don't think the problem on the road is team wide. Williams and Brewer have been great on the road for the last few games, but Korver and Okur have just stunk it up.
If you look at Korver and Okurs Home/Road splits it is very telling. Both of them have a 10% drop in FG% and 3pt% and a 50% increase in turnovers when they are on the road. That is simply unacceptable, no way the Jazz can win consistently on the road if their two best shooters can't perform. Maybe its time to give CJ some more minutes when Korver misses his 5th jumper in a row during the next road game.
I still think the Jazz can and will be a great team, but they need constant reps with all of their guys to get the consistency that they are lacking right now.
This loss hurt, great oportunity to move up in the standings wasted...
Yes, after 21 years one would think Jerry would know when to call a time out to take away momentum from the other team and settle his own team down like he should have in that 1st quarter run by Houston. Other than that we played them pretty straight up.
So Sloan should admit his error and not blame it on the back to back. And, we face these decisions for another season. I'm not a Sloan hater, just tired of the same old, same old.
If the Jazz break 500 this season they'll be lucky. Unless a miracle happens the Jazz won't see the playoffs.
Next three games will make four straight losses...
Boozer's going to turn this all around when he gets back. . . NOT
Killed our no-names. They know they can fill up their stat sheets when the Jazz come to town. Sad.
Another laissez faire performance by the jazz, except for the run at the end, when a couple balls bounced their way. A couple of missed opportunities, it's not that big of a deal, overall the effort was credible. They tried to win, they didn't get the breaks. Nothing to cry over, they just need to keep doing what works and get better at it, that's how they're going to turn it to their favor; there is plenty of room for improvement on defence; they had some lucky breaks the last couple of years, especially in playoff matchups, and their defence isn't any better, so i guess the jazz will get what they deserve.
they got players who'd rather cry injury and not play, i love the team, but what do you do with this group? they're all good ball players, some of them would be people i'd want in my foxhole, some of them not, but it doesn't matter for the jazz, they're all in there together, and some are fighting for w's more than others, some believe in cinderalla endings, while they sit on the bench.
Last time we played Houston and Dallas we won. Fes was very effective against their bigs and played a big role in the wins. Thats the last time we saw him.
I'm really ticked that boozer is planning on returning the day after the trade deadline, leaving the jazz with no option to trade him if they want, what a guy. ak needs to rest his ankle that's on fire? why doesn't he try playing with some passion instead, it's been quite a few games since he played like he cared, and he's my favorite player, when he has that passion, he's fun to watch.
the jazz are worse off with out the misanthropes, that's what sucks. memo plays like he cares, but that's on the offensive end for 48 m, and on defense for about 5 minutes.
the jazz are who they are, they're still a good team, i'm ticked at ak and booz, one or both of them needs to go. memo's too soft for my liking, but at least he's not faking injuries.
cj has too many bad habits he probably learned from boozer, a prima donna complex, if he keeps it up, he's not going to be any good.
this is negative, but tonight was tough and things probably need to change.
We have lost too many games which we should win and which we won last year. Remember the damage caused by boozer against Houston in playoff. I'm sorry, but we blamed bozzr defense I'm not sure okur and Millsap one's is better.
Utah jazz can't be a good team without Bozzer.
Jazz have no shot at an NBA title this year and with them not being able to re-sign all of our players we might as well miss the playoffs this year and take a lottery pick bid Stephen Curry, Griffin from Oklahoma, or even Kyle Singler of Duke would fit in nicely with the Jazz and give us a chance to make a run next year!
Korver, Harpring and Knight combined for a whooping 4 points in 55 minutes. On the road Korver is a waste of playing time. CJ at least shows up on the road. Memo shows up part time as well. Since his 42 points, a complete no-show on offense. Thank goodness for Dwill and Millsap every game. Outside of Millsap, no one rebounds on this team. At the end it's the same old story. You win with defense on the road and we don't play defense outside of Utah.
There is nothing new with no names manhandling the Utah Jazz. The Jazz are a very poor defensive team. If you're in a slump, the Jazz are exactly who you want on your schedule. They gave 108 points tonight with T Mac, who could drop 40 on the Jazz with little effort, sitting on the sideline.
This team is a.500 ball club. They are not a contender even when healthy.
I keep watching hoping I see a spark of fury out of these guys but it just isn't happening. Win one, lose one, win one, lose one. Look for a 1 in 4 record over the next 4 games because they're playing teams that know they can win when they step on the court. While the Jazz run on lethargic legs, their opponents spring. It's just not fun to watch.
Long time Jazz fan from Indiana. I actually was able to watch the game last night which is a rarity. The game looked winnable to me. However, even with all of their missing pieces back, the Jazz will not be successful in the postseason, assuming they even get there. Too many other teams with superstars and superstar referee treatment. Milsap is great at finishing a play created by others, or with putbacks. He has little one on one ability though. After a year of Korver, haven't really seen the exceptional shooting touch Korver is supposed to possess. Brewer seems to be the right fit for shooting guard for the Jazz. The knock against him was his outside shot. I saw him hit at least two long jumpers, 2 of them being threes. Plus he is very athletic around the rim. The offense stalls when Knight enters. They still miss an inside defensive presence even when everyone is healthy. Okur, AK, Miles, Milsap, Koufos stay. Find a way to trade/waive the others and get a good backup point, a complimentary center and another Shooting guard/small forward. Start there. If that doesn't work, Jerry needs to step down.
Actually, the Jazz lost their last games against Dallas and Houston. I do agree with you that Fes was very effective against their bigs when he has played though. I was really bummed they didn't take him along to Houston.
Every team we play that has anyone that can shoot a three loves to see the jazz on their schedule. Tell me again why we resigned Sloan. I am a season ticket holder and have watched for 20 years as the people that can shoot rip apart the jazz. Dump Sloan and Boozer. Send them to Miami for Marion and let the jazz run with their athletes.
Jazz fans never cease to amaze me.
Before you all start burning your t-shirts and crying for blood you should step back from the edge of the cliff and take a deep breath.
If you don't think having Boozer and AK back will make a difference for this team you're crazy.
It'ss be up and down for a bit here but the JAzz will get it together soon, you will see.
