Two in a row for Riverton over Bingham. Hopefully Riverton will continue to be "afraid" of the Miners all the way through March 7th! The Riverton girls did even better.

I am a Riverton fan, and this article stunk. Who talks about singing in a sports article. It had nothing to do with the game. This writer must be for Bingham.

Way to go D News, way to show the posts that everyone has been presenting all day. Step it up for crying out loud.

Good to see Dubach get outcoached for the second straight game. How could you NOT win with that yearly talent pool in South Jordan?

If your a riverton fan why are you talking about winning with talent pool? Riverton has the most student in the state. Why aint they winning? Riverton has not won one state championship in any sport. Bingham has won numberous. Bingham has also beat riverton 10 out of the last 12 times. hmmmm thats interesting.. Bingham beat alta, one of the top ranked teams from texas. Congrats to riverton on beating bingham though. Good job and good luck against West Jordan. "The best team in the state". As for West Jordan they will destroy riverton in every aspect of the game. Wj is for real.

The 'curse' is in effect. Ever since Bingham's Coach Dubach decided to have the shirt he was wearing, during their 2006 victory over Riverton in the 5A title game, placed inside their school's trophy case as a museum piece, they have lost to Riverton.

My advise to Bingham, get rid of the shirt and then hope for the best. It might be too late.

The tide has changed South Jordan. Victories in both the boys and girls games means Riverton now owns the rights to the best seats at the Pie Pizzarea. Good luck getting them back.

Does he really have his shirt up in that trophey case? If true, I can't believe it. Why would he do that? Do all the coaches at that school, that have won titles, have their shirts up as well? Someone please give me some anwsers!

It is true. It is wrong. It is aaragont. It is embarassing. It is Bingham.

Next to the shirt is a small placard indicating that it belongs to Dubach and that it was the shirt he was found wearing during the 2006 title game.

Talk when your school has done something. Its called tradition and 100yrs of it is incredible. Bingham is a great school in many ways to leave the alone

WJ fans need to chill, when they play as a team they are very good, if not, they struggle. Both Riverton and Bingham are good, and who knows, it could come down to the last game of Region play...

Actually it won't come down to the last game because the region title will be up for grabs or at least a share when West Jordan visits Bingham on February 20th. West Jordan plays Kearns, Riverton plays Copper Hills, and Bingham plays Hunter for their last games.

Riverton was very lucky to win that game on Friday. They run almost every single play through Friel, who made more mistakes than good plays. If they don't start balancing out their gameplay, they will lose. They were very lucky that Bingham played sloppy.

to anyone who follows Bingham Basketball they know why dubach would put his shirt in the trophy case. Pure EGO. Plus it doesn't fit anymore!

Of course Friel is involved in every play...he is the point guard for crying out loud!!! What team in America doesn't have their point guard involved in all their plays and furthermore, their offense for that matter! Apparently you didn't watch the game because it was Neilson and Gunderstrup who led the charge at the end. Did you predict that? Seems balanced to me! Friel may have made some mistakes but he made a play when it mattered most and picked Clifford's pocket for a lay up! During their seven fourth quarter turnovers I didn't see any of the miners making a key play in cruch time!

riverton got freakin lucky... and when you win a state championship you can do whatever the freak you want with the shirt you were wearing.

Coach Dubach's shirt is not hanging up in the trophy case at Bingham. There is a small plaque with a piece of the shirt on it that was given to every member of the team as a present that the kids made from the 2006 seniors. The plaque sits side by side with another plaque of the same thing from Coach Sluga and his 1990 State Championship team. It is actually a pretty cool piece of history and means a lot to the kids of both championship teams.

There have only been 3 teams in the state championship game since 2006, Riverton, Bingham and Lone Peak each have made it twice. That should note the best and most consistent teams in the state. No need to examine where the talent is.
