If you going to play hockey outdoors, it needs to be in the cold of winter and places that are cold. The article mentions only U.S. cities. Why aren't they considering places like Montreal, Toronto, Regina, Calgary? Just play it where it is cold and where the people care about hockey.
It's warm inside hockey arenas.

And there are plenty of warm-weather locales where hockey is popular. Teams in Tampa and San Jose do better than teams in some traditional hockey markets.
And, given the number of people from outside Chicago that attended the Wrigley Field game, it will have some good success wherever they have it.
