cold. Must be that the globe is warming, somebody call Al Gore.
Funny, Some scientist are now postulating that we are heading into an ice age. How can that be?
I hate too much cold weather, but I'll take it over the freedom-grabbers from the politically driven global warming crowd.
We've got a phenomenal abundance of climatologists here, haven't we?
Your comments show your ignorance of what global warming/climate change is about and how it will affect our world.
Perhaps instead of spouting rhetoric, you should do some research.
Earthquakes and hurricanes receive a lot of attention as natural disasters that cause death. The deadliest natural disasters are freezing weather and heat waves.
There have already been deaths reported from this cold wave - the longer it lasts, the more there will be.
Not so fast my friend, ignorance is most of the time a two way street, even in this case. It "sounds" to me like you have put yourself on the far other end of spectrum from our friend "Mr. sounds", like maybe a little too much research. It "sounds" like you may have been sold a bad bill of goods, or bought into, this fear mongering, known as "global warming". Truth of the matter is this, (with "research" to back it up) this planet earth that we live upon has been going throuygh cycles for hundreds of years. Hot cycles for long time periods along with cold cycles for long periods. Just because some lousy ex-vice president flaps his gums on a soap box doesn't mean the sky is falling, or in this case that the earth is melting or burning up.
I just hate that there are people out there throwing around garbage information and even worse, FEAR that does not need to be thrown around. I do agree we need to manage the natural resources in a far better way, but this going overboard to these extremes is absolutely ridiculous.
My advise, let it run its course.
Where was the national press when the northern Rockies had similar temperatures and blizzard conditions in December? Where were they last week when western Washington had record floods?
The Eastern bias in the press is frustrating. Watch The Weather Channel staff stand in front of the West and ignore its weather--they think there's nobody out here.
I don't think you can blame that on the national press - perhaps the Utah press. The weather in Washington and the Northern Rockies was covered in-depth on The Today Show.
Whether or not you believe that global warming/climate change is a real issue, study of the issue will inform you that changes will take (are taking) place in the upper atmosphere leading to unusual weather - including severe cold spells - in the lower atmosphere. This leads to the conclusion that, whether or not you believe in global warming/climate change, the current weather is not a good argument for or against it - hence my use of the word "rhetoric."
