You know what the Aggies are doing better now? Publicizing what they're doing. These recruits are probably no big deal, and no better recruits than in the past. But by publicizing what they're doing they're getting fans interested, and believing that things are going to get better. And increasing the fan support is the first step.
Andersen will have these guys in a bowl game in no time. There is no reason why the Aggies wont be chasing Boise for #2 every year.
Whatever you're thinking, stop it. It will be three to four years until USU is even remotely close to being on the same consistency par of Fresno or even Nevada. Boise is far superior to everyone and is interested in moving to the MWC. The WAC is the old Big West conference.
Boise state is not interested in moving to the MWC. No one wants to be in a conference that is televised by a 1980's UHF equivalent. Some BSU and MWC fans have developed a real superiority complex this season. If history repeats itself, next season should prove to be a real disappointment for a lot of people.
I don't agree. Under Guy, the Aggies would have had no chance at Hendershott, Smith, or Ernesi. They wouldn't have received verbals from Manning or Van Leeuwen. The Aggies would still be recruiting against the Big Sky.
Your right about BSU not getting into the MWC, but probably wrong about them not wanting to. What advantage do MWC schools get by adding a tenth team? The disadvantages are clear for BSU: You would have to split money among more teams, and Boise is one of the smallest TV markets in country. If the money doesn't make sense it won't happen, remember this is college football :P
Hey "chasing boise state"
You must have missed the game where Fresno State only beat USU on a last ditch last chance lucky field goal this year.
The change in attitude alone may just make up any difference between USU and the fresno/nevada/san jose crowd. Anderson is ranked as one of the top recruiters in the country, and if that gets going why couldn't Utah State rise to the top of the WAC?
What fans goal is it to be #2 and let the champion rule everyone? How about writing that you'd want to be the champ and defeat #1. It takes most programs at least 2-3 years to really turn around. Just ask BYU, Utah, Weber, Alabama, and Mississippi (only one). I see this team like Duke...capable to scare some teams, but can't pull off the bigger wins and stay out of a bowl game.
I'll be surprised if the Aggies start strong out of the chute. A converted WR to QB (Borel) learning a new offense that is highly focused on the quarterback (spread offense) will likely come with some significant growing pains early on in the season, especially with a tough nonconference schedule. Don't be surprised if the Aggies lose most, if not all, of their early games. Look at what Michigan went through this season when introduced with the new spread offense and an inexperienced QB.
Should be bumpy but the last 10 years of Aggie football has been anything but pretty. Next season will be more of the same as a new system in introduced. At best they'll pick up 1 or 2 more wins. But give the Ags a few more years and I think will see a different team in Logan than we've seen over the past decade.
All I am looking for is a few more wins and a chance at a bowl game and compete in the WAC and give BYU and the U a good game. (maybe evern win every 2-3 years) It is hard to fault USU for trying to improve the football team. It appears to me that the adminstration is doing what they can to improve the image and the team. Go Aggies
