Go see the HD live productions from the Metropolitan Opera at your nearest theater. There is truly, amazing talent. I dare any of the contestants on American Idol to sing a soprano belcanto aria, in Italian , while laying on their back. A few high Cs from a contestent might actually impress me. Any good trained opera singer can also sing rock'n roll if they take the time to soften their voice(if possible as the placement of the sound is in just the right place to allow it to carry over an orchestra, but it can be done if their is a really good sound system) and get rid of their vibrato, whick is actually not that hard to do.
Like American Idol all you want and feel free to enjoy it, but remember the most talented singers can be found at the Metropolitan (Sacred!) opera!
