Should be ranked higher. They are one of the few teams that is undefeated. They beat a ranked team last week. Top 10.
You might want to re-word your comments about #8 Sprigville who actually were 0-1 last week as they were, according to your own Deseret News column on January 9th, "clobbered" by... Riverton.
Obviously rankings don't mean much, especially in a state where state tournament pairings are decided on region rotations and not on any kind of seedings, but AF beat Springville by 10, RHS beat Springville by 31, and AF beat Lone Peak in OT by 11, RHS beat Lone Peak by 22. AF has continued to be ranked ahead of Riverton and it probably gives RHS a little additional fire... but rankings don't mean anything.
Richfield may be good but I would like to see them take on one of the top 4A or 5A teams. It is lucky they are even ranked in the top twenty at all.
Yes Riverton had a great game against Springville. Most of the comments heard from Riverton parents after the game was that was the best game they have played all year. On the other hand, it was probably the worst game Springville has had all year. Not to mention they were short one of their players due to injury. Riverton is a good team and if they played like they did against Springville they could beat American Fork.
Bring them on. The problem is that none of those 4 or 5A teams will schedule the top smaller schools in pre-season becase of the embarassment it would cause to get beat. Richfield dominated all the 3A schools it played in the pre-season.
So I guess Riverton stepped it up a notch against Springville and Springville just choked under the pressure... Maybe Springville should be ranked lower.
If Springville played like they did against AF they would probably lose... oh, wait been there, done that.
So with your thinking, the U of U football team should not be in the top 25 because they don't belong in the BCS. Seems to me that they finished #2 in the nation in the AP poll. So don't tell that Richfield doesn't belong in the top 10.
Richfield should not be in the top 10. Teams in 4A and 5A do not schedule 2A or 3A teams because they believe they will not be tested, not because they think they will be embarrassed. I haven't seen Richfield play and they might be good enough to be in the top 20 but we'll never know because they will not play anyone good enough to make an accurate assessment.
Is it a top 20 if they played head-to-head or is it a top 20 based on how you play in your division? Doesn't seem fair to compare a 5A to a 1A head-to-head. It should be a top 20 based on your chances of winning the state championship in your division. If Richfield has the best chance of all the teams to win a state championship, they should be ranked #1. Or if Provo has the best chance of winning it, they should be ranked #1. Head-to-head should not matter unless you are comparing apples to apples such as two 5A teams against one another. There is a reason they have classifications in sports. The reason is to make it fair. So Deseret News, you should make rank your schools using that same concept of fairness.
how about a post championship game? 1A vs. 3A champ,
2A vs 4A champ? 5A can play a junior college!
I think using Springville as a measuring stick on how good your team is really doesnt prove to much #2 should take care of #8 you had nothing to gain by this match up.
The only thing that may give Riverton some confidence is that AF's team looks a lot like Springville with a lack of size and dept at the post.
To see what Riverton is really made of it will be the game against Bingham.
Are so good they could beat the Richfield boys.
The boys would dominate the girls with josh
dane jd and trent
Maybe if the Richfield boys got an inside game instead of just jacking up threes they would dominate....thats why S.S. boys beat them...they esablished inside then went out....all you have to do is guard the perimeter against Richfield boys and yuou will be fine. Have they ever hear of posting up?
Richfield used to dominate in basketball. What happened to the program?
These blogs can be dangerous. How do we even know that some of these comments come from Richfield people??? After reading the volleyball blogs it's apparent (with an emphasis on "parent") that students and parents are on here stirring the pot. The kids read these and many are using it as "psycological" warfare.
There just kids AND this probably won't get posted like the other two I've sent that are similiar.
I believe that most of the blogs are quite deceptive (at least I hope that's not the way normal people feel and act). I think they are merely good for entertainment value and should not be taken seriously for the most part. I'm sure if you had to post your actual name, most of it would go away.
Its good for a little competition, even on blogs. Some other rankings, Max Preps, Utah Swoosh(local,) SLT. Good to hear opinions, it brings excitement to sports.
Riverton is a head of bingham because RIVERTON IS GOING TO BEAT BINGHAM, but it will be a good game
Riverton fans are SOOOOOO confident. I can't wait to have Bingham take that away. Let's see ya Thursday night about 10pm
