U National Champions | 12:25 p.m. Jan. 13, 2009
That's right Y-ners. The U owns you, in basketball. We were national champions in 1944, that means we own you. How does it feel to know that your program will never be as good as the U because of our national championship in 1944. WooooHoooo!!! Look it up, U of U national champs in 1944!! By the way, Arnie Ferrin is still open. That's right - In 1940 he was open all alone under the basket and scored a layup in a game against BYU. Ferrin is still open!!! Ferrin is still Open!!! Dream on Y-ners. We own you because we were national champs in 1944. Ask your great grandpa (if he's still alive) and he'll tell you all about it. Everyone in the world remembers that the U won a national championship in 1944, so don't even compare yourseves to the U!! How do you live with yourselves knowing that the U was national champs in 1944 and the Y has never come close? So no matter how many games you win, we own you because we were national champions in 1944, and the world knows it!

the thing you BYU fans are forgetting is that Utah just won the Sugar bowl and is #2 in the AP. So we have serious talent coming in. While no Kruger and Smith is not a good thing, it is not a bad thing either, the #1 JUCO transfer is coming in at DE and friend to Sean Smith to take over at the Corner position. He is pretty much the same rare size and weight as Smith so we will be just fine. Also do some homework guys, Kruger is getting old and struck when the iron is hot, Both Kruger and Smith are projected as late first round to early second round.

If Utah can find a way to get past TCU next year we will be the MWC champ again, BYU isnt bringing in as much Talent as Utah, and they dont have as much talent on the team right now

"Overall, I just felt loyal to this place," Tebow said. "I feel like I'm a role model, and a lot of times people start things and don't finish them. I didn't want to be like that. I wanted to be loyal to the university. I wanted to finish what I started and play another year."

Wouldn't it be great if more college athletes felt this way and felt some loyalty to the University that showed loyalty to them? Collie, Kruger and Smith should all be returning to school and finishing what they started. But I guess in todays world it's all about me, me, and me and loyalty and ones committment goes out the window.

Careful, a lot can happen between January and September. Look at Utah's struggles with injuries in '07 and some of BYU's key defensive injuries this year. If talent alone decided games, Utah would never have a reason to lose the rivalry.

your second paragraph makes me laugh, you're right BYU has absolutely no talent at all they are terrible, they won a whopping 10 games this year. They are horrible. Keep that attitude next year and we'll see whose crying on holy war saturday. you're a clown

I'm a traditional guy who thinks that players should pay their dues and get their degrees before trying to play professional sports, but with the amount of money at stake, I can see why these guys are jumping now. Loyalty means a lot, but it's hard to compete with the potential cash that they could be making. Even a couple of years could set them up for life, and Collie and Kruger have to consider their age in a league where mid-30's is considered ancient. Hopefully, they will be able to complete their degrees down the road. I wish them and the NFL prospect seniors of both teams the best of luck, rivalry aside.

PS - Tebow's just a plain class act, and Florida's stinking lucky to have him. One more reason for this Cougar to hate Urban Meyer. :)
Oh, crud. | 2:36 p.m. Jan. 13, 2009
It might be tough to replace those guys next year.

Of course, you're forgetting that BYU won the NIT in 1951, back when that was considered to be the "real" tournament and the NCAA tourney was for the ones who didn't get invited.

"true blue": Oh, yucky. Hope you always wear your Depends. But, in the future, please keep your personal problems to yourself and spare the rest of us.

Attention all recruits, if you play well you will be in the NFL in 2 years (first round, maybe even first pick) if you go to UTAH. If you go to the Y you can stay 4 years and eat for free at the cougar eat, or go out early and be one of those guys that ESPN keeps showing not getting drafted

The BYU Mens Golf team won the NC back in 1981, so the Y totally owns you. Don't feel so bad we are used to it.......

Right, just like you did after 2004's Fiesta Bowl. Oh, wait, you went 6-7 that year.
