It's funny how Sloan doesn't want to hear any excuses from his team or about his team being tired because his team was playing back to back games on the road, but when the Jazz play someone who has just done so, he uses that as an excuse for why they may not have played very well. Doesn't it work both ways?
Actualy, I love Sloans attitude. To me the message that sends is that he expects more from his team, that everybody has excuses but he expects them rise above them and succeed anyways, and that you shouldn't be too proud of yourself for beating a team thats down.
I think there is too little of Sloan type of tough love in this world and too much of hand holding and back patting. There has to be a balance, but these are grown men, they shouldn't need to be praised and given a high five and cookie every time they do anything.
RE: Magnus... DITTO!
Winning isn't for the faint of heart. If you don't play every minute with the attitude that YOU own your opposing player, you'll get beat.
Maybe in time it'll rub off on enough of the Jazz players to get them to the finals.
Jazz will only go to the finals when they have players that can take them there.
(or be like the 90's jazz and wait and wait until the league is down, but they never good enough to win anyways)
This means get rid of boozer.
Get a big man who can defend,
get a shooting guard and small forward who can score, shoot, play, and defend like a real star.
(never mind on the last one, sloan and his system would never allow it, heck, sloan wouldn't even run a play for horny)
