This Bill is Absurd! It was my understanding after watching the c-span coverage of action yesterday, that they had tabled a vote at the request Of Bush and Obama for consideration of amendments proposed by Coburn.

Passage of this bill in it's entirety ( 1300 pork filled pages ) is a disgrace .

We will never pull out of this economic situation with this type of political nonsense.
Great move and idea | 7:36 a.m. Jan. 12, 2009
Saving land for the next generations, GENERATIONS, is a good move and a great idea.

I am all for it. Put me down as YES YES YES.

This bill was long overdue. The components went through hearings and debate over a period of years. The bill protects many lands that are part of our national heritage.

Wake up Utah! This Bill has some good points and directly affects some of our local citizens. But BEWARE.....and read between the lines. When enviormentalist ask to protect views outside our parks, or protect and endangered species we have never heard of, they are really saying no access, no visitors (except well conditioned hikers), to another beautiful place in our State. Then they will spend our tax dollars to put up an obtrusive fence and totally ruin another view. This fence will turn away 99% of our states population while a precious few can enjoy. It will even turn away some of their Grandchildren who they claim to protect the land for. It also inhibits fire fighters and seasonal land management access. For those of us who really enjoy Utah, and are not distructive to its beauty, Stand up and be heard. Email our 2 senators who will vote on this bill. Whether Hatch or Bennett are for or aganist they need to hear how you feel. Thank You.

This bloated bill is a monument to environmental hypocrisy. Just when it is more obvious than ever that we need to develop America's natural resources (and it can be done cleanly!), this bill intends to put more resources off-limits.

Designating more wilderness is simply a perk to upper middle class, childless backpacking special interest yuppies who think they're the only ones worthy of enjoying public lands. It shuts out everyone else.

As I travel and visit this great land of ours I see how more and more of it is losing its beauty and viginity to our everconsuming society. Is saving some of this for the next generation, and the next generation a "perk" or a sign of maturity and caring?

I vote maturity. Anyone who has read about the founding of the NPS and the wilderness areas knows that we saved America's raw beauty and beckoning. The next generation and the next generation need wildernesss to keep a balance in their lives, etc.

I am definitely not the upper middle class, whatever that is, but I am a lover of the next generation and how they need wilderness in order to keep sane, sober, and full of love for what has been created.

Is it too much to save something for my grandchildren's grandchildren?

I think not.

I spend most every weekend camping or traveling this beautiful state, very consious about leaving it as nice as I found it. We are all excited that we have protected parks in our state. My biggest fear is that my grandkids and great grandkids will never see or never be able to go where I have gone! Because of enviormental activist like GIVE ME A PERK who continue to lobby to pass more and more restrictions and grab huge parcels of land. Land that they intend to fence off and deny access to. I feel the plight of the American Indian, we are constantly being pushed back out of the beautiful parts of our state, and told to travel the more common areas. When the enviormentalist start lobbying for forest management like dead tree and underbrush thinning, keeping trails and roads open for fire access and land management, then maybe we can learn to co-exist. It is sad what you are doing for the future of our Grandkids.
