Um, and how exactly did text messaging trigger this shooting? The article says that he was texting - maybe he was texting his mom or his wife. How did that trigger a shooting? Please explain your theory in the actual article, if you're not going to, you might as well have the title be "Driving on the freeway may have triggered shooting." since he was also driving on the freeway..

They might as well say sitting in a car, being a human may have triggered shooting. I swear nobody proofreads anymore.

I heard on the news that the driver/victim was texting while driving and therefore swerving all over the road. He must have cut the shooter off or something and ticked him/her off thus triggering the motivation for the shooting. That's what the headline is referencing.

This is Darwinian. Texter-drivers could eventually be eliminated from the gene pool.

Our community cannot tolerate lawlessness & should commend our patrolmen for their aggressiveness to investigate, locate & secure the perpetrator of this act. Post apprehension the court system must prove one's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt to find one guilty. However, regardless of his motivation, the law states one may only use equal force when defending one's self against others by whom they may feel threatened and presently the facts do not yet support such was the case. Now had the victim previously shot at the shooter or tried ram his car unprovoked the shooting may be justified, but we do not know that yet. The bottom line is, we cannot allow what is perceived to be unlawful behavior to exist within our community at any level as to tolerate it is to encourage it. What has happened here is not about one's constitutional right to bear arms but instead about the obligations & responsibilities accompanying this right, which govern one's obligation to use only equal force when threatened. In any case such presumed unlawful gun use should be seen by society as both dangerous and intolerable & all means should be utilized to eliminate same from our civilized society.

Don't go clouding these people's mind with common sense and logic. Can't you see they want a court brief format for every single article published in the newspaper? After all, they're not capable of adding 2 and 2 together and coming up with 4! Sheesh.

M,

"However, regardless of his motivation, the law states one may only use equal force when defending one's self against others by whom they may feel threatened and presently the facts do not yet support such was the case."

Tell that to those who have been killed because of reckless drivers. Tell them that they can only kill their killers if they are killed first. So this guy shouldn't have shot him, he should have cut him off and used the same force he did and then if both men in the car died then it would have been equal force.

"Now had the victim previously shot at the shooter or tried ram his car unprovoked the shooting may be justified, but we do not know that yet."

That's nice reasoning and is the reason people like you should be in prison. How dare you defend reckless drivers who kill innocent people and say that the only way you can do anything is if they actually succeed in killing you. I guess this other driver should have had his ghost cut the other driver off since that is what you twisted and evil voters believe is right.

Our community cannot tolerate those who text while driving either. The shooting is admittedly over the top, but when you are almost forced off the road by a cell phone user or texter it becomes potentially lethal and very personal.

Any using that new hands-free text messaging service SayType? There was great article about the service in the Sacramento Business Journal yesterday.

Try driving when you're behind the wheel of a car. If you want to text or talk on the phone, get off the road.

I believe this article was clear. The "driver" was texting and ticked a fellow freeway driver off. Doesn't validate the shooting, but explains his anger.

Guns don't kill people, bullets kill people. There is an easy way to eliminate this type of behavior. If you can't buy ammunition nor the equipment to make it, problem solved.

Either way it doesn't have to go this far. One moment in time can change anyones life and yours. Punishment comes in many ways!!!
