Utah, just look at what you've done - how many "experts" you embarrassed.

Maybe they'll think twice before voting next year.

Congrats Utes!! | 1:59 a.m. Jan. 9, 2009
What a great season!! All though I am disappointed we didn't make #1 my hats off to the team.

The fact that unlike FL, OU, USC, etc. we were not even ranked in the pre-season yet made it to #2 and are the ONLY undefeated team in the nation.

The BCS system stinks when beating #6 Bama #7 TCU #18 OSU and #25 BYU and 13-0 wasn't good enough to even share the tile with a team that lost at home to then an UN-RANKED team.

ACCOMPLISHED!!!

How FL is #1 when losing to an non ranked team at home is just mind boggling.

The FL team I saw today could be beat, maybe its time these BCS top teams schedule Home-and-Home series against Utah, TCU, Bosie and BYU. Then and only then will they be National Champs right now they are only BCS Champs.

Congratulations Utah!! I wish you had been #1. No one can discount the Mountain West Conference anymore (even though they still will). Utah, TCU and BYU all had great seasons.

Utah is #1 | 9:56 a.m. Jan. 9, 2009
Utah is the best team in the nation! They need tee-shirts and banners proclaiming the 2004 team National Co-Champions since Auburn and USC were also undefeated, and 2008 team, the National Champions. They went undefeated this year, and nobody else. The one that has been given the title through the BCS monopoly and the AP beauty contest has no greater claim than Utah. Florida beat two top 10 teams (Alabama and Oklahoma), and two other top 25 teams (Georgia and Florida State). Utah has the same record with two top 10 teams (Alabama and TCU), and two other top 25 teams (BYU and Oregon State). Unlike Florida, Utah has no losses. Florida lost to Mississippi at home! Mississippi is a good team. Some have said they were unranked at the time they beat Florida, and that's true, but that doesn't make them any worse. How teams finish at the end of the year is what matters. If not, we might as well give the Championship to Georgia who started as #1 in the preseason! If you look at the polls, they've had several schools as #1. Florida is #1, but a game with Utah I suspect would change the polls!

Look at the 5 conferences that make up the top 10.

SEC, #1 and #6 - BCS conference
MWC, #2 and #7
Pac 10, #3 and # 10 - BCS conference
Big 12, #4 and #5 - BCS conference
Big 10, #8 and #9 - BCS conference

Then for interest sake the highest ranking team from other conferences,

WAC, #11
ACC, #15 - BCS conference (3 total teams)
Big East #17 - BCS conference (2 teams total)
The MWC had 3 total teams!

I do not think that there is anyway to argue that the Big 12 and SEC are the top 2 conferences, but beyond that I have a difficult time seeing why some conferences get automatic bids and some do not.

Utah better than USC | 11:56 p.m. Jan. 9, 2009
Re: Anon 10:32am

Why couldn't Utah beat USC? Who did USC beat that was so good? A depleted #8 Penn State (on USC's home field)? UCLA? Washington State? UW?

Heck, USC only beat Arizona 17-10. And lost to Oregon State.

Utah beat Oregon State. They also beat then #4 Alabama, final #7 TCU, and #25 BYU. And everyone else.

My guess is at a neutral site, Utah would beat USC by 10.
