Congrats to Florida, but Utah should still have a mention in this issue.

You have to hand it to fox and the BCS, they tried hard to pretend that the BCS means someting - anything - other than money, collusion, and anti-trust.

Florida = Pseudo champions | 10:24 p.m. Jan. 8, 2009
Florida is a pseudo champion - it's ridiculous. Florida beats 'Bama and they get to play for the NC. Utah beats 'Bama by more points and they get a pat on the back. The BCS is a monopoly and the biggest sham ever. Utah is the people's choice!

Tell Me, Please | 10:35 p.m. Jan. 8, 2009
OK--so Florida finished the year with 1 loss and 3 wins over teams that finished the regular season in the Top 25 of the final, regular season AP poll.

Utah finished the season with no losses and 4 wins over teams that finished the regular season in the Top 25 of the final, regular season AP poll.

Please, please, please somebody tell me how Utah is not the number 1 team, at least in the AP poll?

One has to wonder after tonight's result where Utah really deserves to be in the National Polls. The only thing standing between the Utes and Florida is a bunch of greedy BCS executives wanting to keep the power and money of a corrupt system.

Florida Far & Above Utah | 10:39 p.m. Jan. 8, 2009
Florida 19th toughest schedule

Utah 70th toughest schedule

Utah has no claim on the title.

Good night. Dream on Utah.

I for one have no idea who the national champions should be. Without a playoff how can you possibly say who the true champion is? Sure Utah beat Alabama, but could they beat Florida? I think they could, but we'll never know. The logic that because Utah beat Alabama by 3 more points than Florida did so therefore they are better really doesn't work. If this comparison is used then Oklahoma is better than Utah because they beat TCU by 3 touchdowns more than Utah did. We can argue about it forever, but to no conclusion...

Living in ACC country I can tell you that all weak, poor, pathetic ACC teams love the BCS. Why, because ACC can have pathetic team, play the other pathetic teams in the ACC and when it's all over they get a huge BCS payout each year, remember UVA's lose to Wyoming last year? They still earned a huge BCS payout. What did Wyoming earn. UVA in the MWC wouldn't will a single conference game and still year after year they get the big BCS bucks. Of course, they oppose a playoff system. Of all the conferences the ACC fears a playoff system the most.

Reality Check | 11:01 p.m. Jan. 8, 2009
Anyone who thinks that Utah could have hung with either of the teams that played in the Championship is kidding themselves. Let's look at statistics here. Oklahoma averaged almost 55 points per game this season. The Florida defense held them to 14 points. On the flip side, Florida averaged almost 45 points per game this season. The Oklahoma defense held them to 24 points. Do you really honestly believe that Utah could have stuck with either team on either side of the ball? Give me a break.

RE: Reality Check | 11:12 p.m. Jan. 8, 2009
I agree. Utah is has had a great season. And on any given night one team can beat another. I don't see Florida's staff getting outcoached by Utah's staff. Urban Meyer would NEVER let that happen! And while Utah has quality athletes, Florida has the best of the best coming there year in and year out! OU, as we learned tonight, is just a few plays away from being right with Florida. SO...

re: logic poll(final) What's your logic? Undefeated! Florida and OU would be undefeated to with Utah's schedule!

Anonymous 10:43 is exactly right. You can't say Utah is #1. You can't say Florida is. You just can't know. You can only ask a bunch of people their opinions.

Unless there's a playoff, we just don't know who #1 is.

Unless there's a playoff, it's an election, not a competition.

The scam and greed of the BCS will fail to crown the team that deserves to be No. 1. The Runnin Utes of Utah. The comment that Florida is Far and Above Utah is as ridiculous as anything I have heard. Urban Meyer and Coach Saban of Alabama both know that is far from true.

Actually, I've heard the Big 10 is the biggest opponent of a playoff. After seeing their bowl results, I understand why!

Just remember that the Utes spanked the team that Florida almost lost to to get in the Championship game. What else do they have to prove?
