Americans must never forget which congressmen/women voted for the failed bailout, including our own Hatch and Bennett, and not allow them to continue steering us down this economic avalanche bound to bury anyone who are led to think they're getting some kind of free ride. We need to get away from credit spending and learn to refocus our greedy eyes on what really is important in life.

Dave

So far, all I have heard is that Obama plans to continue with the Bush policies.

The Free Money Fairy

if the government were offering my company 3000 bucks per new hire, I'd layoff all my employees and rehire them back. :) That'd save me 3000 bucks per employee!

Congress acted boldly and swiftly when they gave 700 BILLION, to banks with no TRANSPERANCY. Only to deceive America. Only childern act boldly and swiftly, when spending other peoples money. Congress should be very wise and very patient. By acting, wise and patient with this 700 BILLION. Can America afford to act boldy and swiftly, on spending hard worked taxpayers 700 BILLION greenbacks ??? I remember when ratical Governer Wallas wanted to move Americas future boldly and swiftly. America said no to anything radical. A word to the wise is sufficient.

Vote Present

I'd bet Obama's preference at this point in time would be a vote of "Present" like he did so much as a state congressman and federal senator. Instead he will actually be forced to make decisions and take "bold" actions as our leader.

Let's hope he is up to the occasion. Remember he is still in the "honeymoon" phase of his new administration, and likely will get most of what he wants.

All this defecit spending will be a tough sell what with the combination of republicans and "blue dog" democrats in the House and Senate.

re: Dave

Ya, your are right about the dumb policies.

The only difference though is that Obama gets the word "BOLD" in his headlines and Bushs headlines, for doing the exact same thing, "Bush runs up massive deficits"!!

It is amazing how the press can "steer thinking" with short headlines--they are expert at it though and they know they are doing it.

Most people are too clueless to realize it is happening though and think they are actually getting "objective reporting".

What a joke.

Back to your original point though, they are both spending fools. Obama knows that without ridiculous spending the economy will further slow DURING HIS TERM.

Everyone needs to realize though that this solution is only TEMPORARY which shows the depth of Obamas strategy. "Get the economy going in my term and who cares about the future damage." Obama like every politician cares little about you--only about their political power/office.

It is impossible that all this debt will not inevitably cause a full scale collapse when hyperinflation arrives as a result of printing all this money.

Obama could've made the tough decisions and address underlying causes but he's simply perpetuating them.

Guess Obama's not the Savior afterall--more of same.

Correct

to re: Dave - you are certainly right on about the press. Unfortunately the days of true and unbiased journalism are in the past for most of the news reporting industry. That is too bad for a number of reasons, the most important being the media's vital role as part of the "checks and balances" public service an observant and unbiased media can perform.

Most of what passes for news these days is, as I was taught years ago in high school journalism class, "propaganda". Unfortunately the weaknesses in the U.S. education system have dumbed down the average citizen to the point that seemingly a majority of citizens are not astute enough to recognize propaganda or to use their own intellectual skills to see the reality of what is happening.

Also, notably, the party leaving office has a bad habit of leaving messes for the incoming party to deal with....that is putting partisian politics ahead of the country's interests, pure and simple.
Both parties are guilty of that.

HOWEVER, we still live in the best country on earth, in spite of the flaws our leaders so blatently display.

GTO

Obama's economic policies in a nut shell:
#1:If it moves, tax it, hard!
#2:If it moves too fast, regulate it until it can't move anymore.
#3: If it can't move anymore, bail it out with money you confiscated in policy #1.
Then start all over again.
We can call his plan "The Obamaconomics cycle". The problem is there is no such thing as a perpetual motion machine. It is impossible to maintain.
