Settlement reached in Alpine School District age-discrimination suit

In my 30 years of experience this is my view.
Most school districts hire brand new teachers with no experience and with bachelors degrees as a cost saving device.
They can hire ten unexperienced teachers for the cost that they could hire six experienced teachers.
It has been my experience that there are no transfers from district to district because the receiving district does not wish to pay the transfering teacher what he or she was paid in their original district.
If there is an exception to this experience it would be because the teacher was willing to take less money than his original job paid.
I feel hiring should be based on talent and ability not the cost to the school district.
If the results of the settlement are closed and unavailable for public viewing I know who lost the case.
If the school district lost this case someone should be held accountable.
Your tax dollars at work.
She also had one tell her, "you don't fit the age group I am looking for. I like to have one young teacher and one older teacher in each grade."
While both of those sound logical, they are both illegal.
She didn't pursue a lawsuit but sure came home ticked off.
Maybe a little training is in order....
