As far as these two men being arrested,, GOOD!!!!
Polygamy is against the law in Canada! Its time this kind of degrading lifestyle be stopped!
Swingers are allowed, but you cant chase little girls, is that your issue?
Sounds like a personal problem to me.
This news should serve as the (25th) wake up call for fundies that their world aint what it used to be, times they are a changing.
Welcome to the 21st Century!

Laurie, you are a unidimensional, sick, demented, bigoted puppy. Find a new cause to support--go hug some trees. Go shake some of that LeBaron dust off and see if you can stop judging the world based upon your cult-reflex driven abuses instead. Not all polygamists went through the hell you did, and unlike you, MOST of them are NORMAL people.
But its gonna end up being an issue for him. Cant be on that honeymoon forever!

LIST OF ABSURDITIES | 1:27 p.m. Jan. 7, 2009
BE AWARE OF ABSURD FALLACIES AHEAD: ..."The Utah-based pro-polygamy group Principle Voices... to supporters, Principle Voices director Mary Batchelor said it was "to test the Canadian laws against polygamy."
TEMPTING OR TESTING THE [ULTRA-SECULAR] GOVERMENT WITH [NON-SECULAR] FALLACIES AS DEFENSE OF POLYGAMY?
SOYOUWANNA BE A HUMAN GUINEA PIG FOR POLYGAMY?
(TO TEST THE LAW?)
ANALOGY (PARALLEL-STRUCTURE LOGIC) AS PROOF OF ABSURDITY AND CONCLUSION:
TEMPTING THE LAW, ULTRA-SECULAR GOVERMENTS WITH "NON-SECULAR DEFENSE OF POLYGAMY."
VERSUS
TEMPTING LAWS OF NATURE OR AUTHORITY
VERSUS
TEMPTING GOD THE ALMIGHTY OR (AUTHORITY) WITH THREE MAJOR TEMPTATIONS: (JUMP FROM PINNACLE, TRANSFORM ROCKS TO BREAD, WORSHIP SATAN IN EXCHANGE FOR THE ALL OF WEALTH AND POWER OF THE WORLD? )
Setting aside marrying under the age and arranged marriages, there is much strong science supporting people having a polygamous nature than a homosexual nature. It's kind of proven unfortunately with all the extra marital affairs happening.
So I hope all those out there who did not support Prop 8, picket for, defend, and stand up for to the rights of the FLDS church and all people in general to be married to more than one husband or one wife.
Polygamous men being arrested in Canada has absolutly nothing to do with Barack Obama being sworn in as President of United States nor does it have anything to do with Prop 8.
There are some really silly comments on here some of the time, thank goodness for freedom of speech but at least stay on the subject.
Polygamy right or wrong let the Canadian Courts decide, we need not be so judgemental. I do not support Polygamy but I do support the law of the land regardless of the country.
There is also "strong science" supporting people having murderous natures, thieving natures, lying natures, mugging natures and other sociopathic impulses.
So, keeping your reasoning methodology in mind, if people are disposed to do all these things, are you striving diligently to remove the stigma of 'Illegal'and 'Immoral' from these activities, at least in your own neighbourhood?
What religion is that?
As wonderfully well versed as your comments are, They have no place in the debate. Prosecute people for hurting children and forcing them to be married at a younger age than they want to be. But you cannot prosecute people who by their own choice choose to be polygamists. It takes both women and men to have this kind of relationship, and more women than men. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that everyone must feel the same way. Your view is not the only one. Some people don't like meat. And some want it everyday. Some peolpe want children and some don't. I won't use God, but I will use what is just and that is the freedom to choose to be whoever I want to be. And if I had a bunch of wives then they cose to be there too.
Maybe polygamy should not be condoned but neither should other abhorrent "life style" choices. It only seems to matter exactly whose ox is getting gored.
Same sex marriage, multiple partner swapping, serial adultery, divorce and/or remarriage on a whim, sex with interns, casual no commitment sex only relationships, abortion on demand, condoms and pills to early teens, sex education for 5th graders,
all okay? Polygamy, not okay?
Absent other types of abuse what is so different about polygamy? It's a "lifestyle" choice too.
Don't read the above and assume it's from a pro-polygamy writer. It's not - NO WAY.
But, is it a moral society that makes value judgements based on personal preference or which group best manipulates public opinion?
More substantively, this announcement is curious because the offense of polygamy is difficult to prosecute, let alone prove, unless the multiple wives have legal marriage certificates, which one assumes they do not. Moreover, since the Canadian laws are even less restrictive on this matter than the USA laws, this could blow up in the face of the prosecutor if the polyg's choose to take this up the line to their supreme court.
I'm thinking the prosecutor is using the polygamy prosecution as a way to harass the polyg's and to investigate their practices so he can go after them for any abuse he can allege, such as forced "marriages" to child brides.

Unheard of that this has been ignored, as it involves illegal crimes by the very design of this crime ring. Polygamy is a crime, along with the methods employed to bring it about and support it.
You are probably one of those polygamist abusers who can't slow down from herding your farm animals around. I feel extremely sorry for sick people like you. I'm certain though that you would be good for my compost pile.
As the columnist Mark Steyn once wrote about Canada's distaste for polygamy, if it's stump-toothed white guys marrying teenage girls, then it's icky.
If it's Somali men marrying child brides, then it's "celebrating diversity".
I think there are two different issues here: child abuse and polygamy. One, is NEVER acceptable. The other seems like it should be a personal choice.
14 year old girls married to Joe Smith.
How icky! Oooh gross. Shame on him.
If its wrong now then it was wrong back then.
False religion alert!
Also, what about the lost boys from these compounds. What about them? They get kicked out for no reason other than they compete for the affection of young women. That is also wrong. How can anyone defend this immoral behavior.
Polygamy is NOT from God. It is a man made false prophet sin created for the personal pleasure of a few.
My question was in regards to consenting adults with religious rhetoric aside. I can respect your feelings on this issue but I do not believe that you addressed my question. I write this understanding you are under no obligation to me to do so.
