Hannity hype... | 6:13 a.m. Jan. 7, 2009
After listening to Sean Hannity for years, it finally occurred to me that I was just wasting my time. All I heard was complaints about the democrats. This bothered me because it's THE SAME on the republican side. I did not vote for Obama, but I think he may end up being a very good President.

This article brings forth more evidence that Obama is slightly out of touch with political reality.
While I like the prospect of a spending bill getting passed that does not have some sort of pork in it, the sad reality is that members of both the republican and democratic parties will still try to sneak a bunch of pork through the process.

Obama will propose a bill that he feels will be in the best interest of the country, with no allowance for pork in his eyes.

However, once Congress gets their hands on the bill, too many of them will try to sneak their favorite pork into bill.

This will include both democratic and republican members of Congress.

They will try various strategies to force President Obama to accept the pork in the bill.

Will President Obama be able to get a pork free bill passed? Maybe, maybe not.

One way is to put the bill way out in the public sunshine so every citizen who cares can look at it.

When a congress critter puts pork in it, President Obama will need to expose who put it in and why.

That's rich, coming from Obama.

Stimulus=pork | 7:40 a.m. Jan. 7, 2009
The whole thing is a pork project. Instead of markets deciding where to invest, government will decide. No good can come of this. Even Eisenhower's vaunted "highway system" just provided artificial government impetus for suburban sprawl, foreign oil addiction, and a less efficient transportation system than what were then thriving railroads.

Keep the tax cuts and let markets decide how they are spent.

Obamas stimulas proposal is all pork. It is all perspective.

It sounds as if he is adding more to our tax debt by hiring more people for his economic recovery. We need to cut government spending and government. I was hoping he would make a change and not hire the same people who have led us into debt since FDR.
An average taxpayer just trying to stay alive.

I used to refer to Pelosi as queen nancy because of the regal and gloating attitude she took on a talk show proclaiming, "I'M third in line for the PRESIDENCY!" But I think now "queen of the earmarks" works just as well. BO's dreaming if he thinks he can get something out of congress that is anything less than 65% fat.

Did Mr. Obama steal the Clintons Rolodex?

"not hire the same people who have led us into debt since FDR" now that's rich... Have you taken a look at the economic statistics since the last administration of "W" has been in office? Who hired whom that led us into debt????? Have you been living out of the country? I'm a business woman who loves to make money. However, I am ashamed at my colleagues who have gutted our manufacturing base and were never interested in the "MARKETS" doing anything for this country except padding the books of investors. I am an investor too but I prefer to make my money the old-fashioned way - EARN IT FAIR AND SQUARE.

Thank god, we will have a leader in the White House. Obama listens to experts. Bush won't take General Franks advice that American would need more troops.

Who "pads-more-pork" in Bill's then Biden?. Who'll watch Biden when he has "PORK" stuffed in Bill's?. He's been doing PORK for the past 32 years, what makes you or Obamacon THINK he'll stop this addiction?. That would be like telling BHO to stop smoking right now. Klingon Vice President-select Joe Biden, who oddly was sworn in to a seventh Senate term, his new job notwithstanding. He'll resign from the Senate before he's sworn into higher office with President-select Obamacon at the end of the month The well-statured Joe Biden not so warrior race has a genetic predisposition to hostility and a well-known streak of fatalism. Lieutenant Worf says that Klingons do not like to be "probed" by empathic Republican species. The culture's socialist utopian warrior ethic runs so deep that rivals in the civil war can meet and drink as equal fighters for periods of time before or after battles, thanks to the Capitol City's neutrality. During these get-togethers, a great deal of growling, wrestling, snarling and generally loud revelry takes place, Klingons seeming to derive tremendous satisfaction from drinking with their enemies on the night before a battle.

Utah is submitting its share of lard-barrel projects to Obama. The UTA rail projects have the utility and need and reasonableness of a porkchop resting at the top of a barrel of lard.

Utah is dumping $20 billion tax dollars taken from car users into UTA for an insignificant, 1.5% transit contribution to our mobility. Now UTA wants $2.2 billion from the feds. This is nuts.

UTA has a list of 11 rail projects it wants $2.2 Billion to fund. The Governor has such a respect for Democracy that he feels the need to hide the details of UTA's projects. He will not give me details of the eleven UTA rail boondoggles.

An example of insanity in UTA's rail projects, the West valley TRAX extension will cost over $700 million tax-dollars but give only 0.00% impact, according to UTA's Final Environmental Study Report, on regional vehicle miles traveled in the WFRC area. THAT is porkchop on a lard-barrel cost-benefit.

Utah should, instead, lead the nation toward our traditional values. WE desparately need a public review of the costs and benefits of UTah's submissions for the national Infrastructure stimulus.

DesNews should lead in demanding details and debating this critical issue.

Light rail and commuter trains seems like a great way to ensure mobility in a state with an exploding population.
UTA transportation will be a God send in the very near future. I wish they could complete these projects much sooner than scheduled.

Isn't Obama saying he will cut pork about the same as the fox guarding the henhouse?
Utah Transit Outfrastructure | 12:25 p.m. Jan. 7, 2009
"Utah Infrastructure" has given us a wonderful testimony based on blind, ignorant , faith in the UTA propaganda picture of transit. It is too bad so many people have this blind faith. They will not look at the actual data showing the general lack of utility of rails versus roads.

Sure spending billions on trains will help a relative few who live or work in the downtown area or in new Transit Oriented Design communities along those rails. But, the $20 billion I mentioned above is taken from roads, particularly high-performance freeways.

Also, UTA is cutting back and short-changing bus service in the suburbs. I have seen bus service in my area decline by over 95% since UTA went on the TRAX binge. Most bus routes in the south-western valley have been cut-back or eliminated.

Besides the way train projects are draining away and wasting needed car-user-paid billion$, they fail to connect to our neighborhoods in the suburbs. That is why the progressive bleeding away of bus service in the suburbs has been critical. The bus-rail paradigm that UTA hyped for a decade is a gross failure for most of the Wasatch Front.

Utah values should displace/condemn transit fraud.

The entire bill will be pork!

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT - Utah's secret society, of some richest 90 men, "suck-off the tax payers" daily from the government in pork project's, they are a organization of initiated persons whose members, purposes, and rituals are kept secret. Human groups throughout history have maintained secret societies. The ceremonies of initiation into such a society typically begin with an oath pledging secrecy as to all proceedings of the society, ascribing special obligations to its members, and assenting to penalties for violation of the oath.

Oh I forgot, they call this not pork spending and project's in Utah, they call it "a blessing."

Utah received the largest pork in 2002 with 3.2 billion. LA held a Summer Games and they made money.
Obama HAH | 4:58 p.m. Jan. 7, 2009
Apparently no one has ever told Obama that there is no way you can borrow your way out of debt. Why are we as Americans allowing this to even happen. It is time that Americans take back this country and cut the BS spending out of the government. We need return the Federal reserve back into the hands of the government an get it out of the hands of the bankers. Then the inflated interest that we owe to the bankers needs to be canceled. This would eliminate billions of dollars that America should never have owed. Thus economy problem solved.

The current owners of the national treasury have more wealth than than they, their children, and all of the grandchildren could spend in all of their life times.

How long will the American people stand by and allow our precious constitution to be trampled into the ground. It is time we take a stand and take back OUR GOVERNMENT.

I have just learned something about "pork spending". It seems the guy from "girls gone wild" videos as well as Larry Flint from Hustler magazine, are "going to Washington" to ask Congress for some of that auto bail out monies, around $6 Billion, because they think porn is as American as apple pie, their sales of video's have dropped in the past year some 30%, they lost money, plus they want to revitalize America and believes everyone needs porn. I am sure they'll try to get House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to press top congressional Democrats to "pad this pork" into their agenda's, and call it a massive economic stimulus recovery bill. And then get President-elect Barack H. Obama to sign it as soon as he takes Office.
