As much as I like the Utes, they have no leg to stand on in this argument even if they are undefeated. Four teams clearly standout with tougher schedules and better resumes for the year. Stop being stubborn and move to a real conference. Then your complaints are warranted.
The Utes missed being number one. These players have their bodies intact. They didn't have their season ruined stepping on a landmine. They don't have terminal cancer. They have full lives before them.
I could see life through the gray colored lens. I chose to see my blessings.
A conservative is a person, who upon learning they won $100,000,000 in the lottery, breaks down in tears knowing they must pay taxes.
I don't see how anyone can be against things being changed so college football finishes the season with a playoff system and ending in a true championship game. They do it with basketball, so why not with football too??? It doesn't make ANY sense.
The college sports nuts get all excited over "March Madness" as the basketball teams make their way through a playoff series, so why not do the exact same thing in December each year with college football?
"But what about the bowl games?" Some might ask. Or you might say "Tell that to all the bowl game organizers who have so much money tied up in it".
Well the bowl games need not end under a playoff system. You simply make all of them part of it. Each game played in the playoffs would have an individual name "Holiday Bowl", "Sugar Bowl", "Rose Bowl" etc.
This is how most sports factions settle their championships, through playoffs. It's the fairest way to determine the champion. Winner takes all rather than an elaborate judging of teams.
The BCS system is a joke, and the only people who believe otherwise are those who are benefiting from it. I wonder if the BCS schools have been living in their little "bubble" for far too long, and they haven't stepped outside of it enough to see that the rest of the world is at their heels. I believe that this belief that there are powerhouse conferences that stand head and shoulders above the rest had been de-bunked.
