Saban and his staff...

were grossly outcoached in this game. Utah is getting a much better value for their dollar coaching-wise.

Time for a Playoff

Utah should sue the NCAA for not sponsoring a true major college football national championship -- the NCAA crowns a National Champion in EVERY sport it sponsors, including football, except for the top level of college football, which the NCAA has allowed to be high-jacked by the bowls and special interest groups (read: BCS).

Utah and the MWC, WAC, and other non-BCS conferences should sue the NCAA for discrimination for not allowing ALL Division 1 football teams to have an equal opportunity to play for the national championship.

Everyone knows the whole system is rigged in favor of the "name" schools.

West is Best

The West teams of USC and Utah are better than the over rated East teams of Penn St and Bama, the BCS got it wrong. We need a playoff. Unless Florida or Oklahoma win big in the title game, I would say Utah #1 and USC #2.

knowwhat

I get sick of everybody whinning because Andre the giant was the reason Alabama lost. Utah didn't have there starting and hardest hitting linebacker, Nia Fotu. The big reason is Alabama did not have any defense. When a team hangs 31 on the 3 ranked defense in the country, your overated. Big problem, Mt. Cody couldn't get a push so they had to drag him off the field.

MiP

everyone talks about an "East Coast Bias" out in Utah. OU and Florida are playing in the NC, Oklahoma is far from the East Coast.

Further, USC is hands down a media darling. Just watch. They (the polls) will rank USC, with thier one loss (to a team Utah beat) ahead of Utah in the final polls. can you say a little "West Coast Bias?"

I think there is no way USC beats OU or Florida on a neutral (not SoCal) site. But we'll never know will we?

UTAH IS NUMBER ONE

Utah is the only undefeated team. Utah plays conservative with the lead. They could have run the score up more if they would have wanted to. Mountian West Conference > bcs.

Re: MiP

Interesting comment. USC beat PSU on (essentially) their home field. Utah beats Alabama on Bama's (essentially) home field.

Utah has BYU to thank for not being #1. It was the Y's 1984 championship that got the powers to be together to make sure the little guy doesn't do that again.

Bottom line - Everyone has lost to someone who has lost to Utah.

Best sign of the night: 13-0 No Formula Needed

Re: MiP

I wouldn't claim USC has a "West Coast Bias." I would say it's still the "East Coast Bias" because of the Rose Bowl -- they play the Big 10 and Notre Dame every year so they continually get the east looking over here.

USC is so traditional that I feel like I'm watching a Big 10 team. The Coliseum is cool and traditional, but it's old and outdated. Hate to bring this up, but the other facets of the game are Big 10-like as well. The band, as awesome as their playing can be, can't march due to their tradition. They march like Michigan's and Ohio State's bands. UCLA and Arizona's bands are 10 times as good because they've evolved while USC stays with the tradition. The song girls are hot, but they're wearing the same thing since the 1800's. I appreciate the tradition, but I'm trying to show that it's an east-coast environment with a west-coast mentality. The east-coast press think of them as a Big-10 team that's located in the west.

Outcoached? Darn straight!

In a post game interview Brent Castille said that watching film they could see that the Alabama defense spent a lot of time with their hands on their hips even early in games.

Alabama rotated its players in and out in order to rest them.

With the no huddle in the first quarter, Utah didn't give Alabama the chance to rotate fresh players in.

The result? Utah scored on its first three possessions and effectively won the game in the first quarter.

Nick Saban, who Forbes called the most powerful coach in sport, got out coached.

Do what's right AP guys.

If the AP guys do what is right and vote Utah as their Nat. Champ., that would go a long way to pressure the BCS to solve the inequity they've created. Please email, post, contact, etc. everyone you can to influence AP voters to start the ball rolling to get the BCS fixed. By the way, either the SEC is over rated or the MWC deserves to be a included in the BCS inner circle - you decide.

As a BYU fan I think the Utes Stink and I hope they go 0-12 next year. As a college football fan I think the game was AWSOME!! As hard as it is for me to say...THE UTES DID THE JOB AND THE BETTER TEAM WON. Now, more than ever, it is time for a playoff.

Utah 13-0. AP do the right thing and vote Utah #1. The commentators and even the officials were pulling for Alabama. Was the Alabama offensive line called for one holding call? Almost every replay showed a Utah rusher being held, often bulldogged with no call or comment from the booth. The several Utah phantom pass interference calls trying to jump start the Alabama offense were blatantly wrong. The best moments of the game were the shots of a red-faced Saban swearing up and down the side lines and the Alabama fans with their hands over they're faces. Utah #1 in the nation!

Bronco fan

Congrats Utes. That was a quality win in my book. Glad to see the mighty SEC fall so hard. I'm looking forward to the mess this makes with the BCS (Broken Crappy System).

Cincinnati needed two late touchdowns to beat Hawaii (middle of the WAC team) and plays in a BCS bowl. Ohio State has two losses and plays in a BCS bowl game because they can bring in more revenue. That's a broken system if you ask me.

Re: Anonymous

Don't start the officiating stuff......I hate it when BYU fans regularly do it and I hate it when Ute fans do it. we won the game enjoy the win and quit bringing up the lame officiating card....it doesn't make you look like a real fan

Eean, FL Coug

I'm a Coug 'till I die, and I'm also a Gator, but this football season belongs to the Utes!! I loved every minute of that game last night. I was so dang proud of the Utes for sticking it to Alabama and showing the whole country what's up. Way to go Utes!!! "Honk if you sacked John Parker Wilson." If someone hasn't made this bumper sticker already, they need to!

Ute Man

Coffee, Wilson, Cody, Smith, Jones, Ingram, Arenas, Tiffin, and Saban, these were all household names in the world of college football, week in and week out! ESPN, FOX, and the sporting world, in general shouted these names from the rooftops. These names dominated and ruled college football, atop the polls for something like 5 weeks!
Meanwhile, Johnson, Mack, Brown, Casteel, Godfrey, Asiata, McCain, Smith, Kruger, Misi, Sylvester, and others, were toiling in the shadows, paying their dues. While the Ugly Stepsisters were trying to steal their thunder, Cinderella was sweating and grinding at it week in and week out!
Well Cinderella finally got the chance, and guess what, Cinderella's fairy-godfather Whittingham stepped up, got Cinderella ready for the Big Ball, Cinderella showed up, and oh boy, DANCED the night away! Whooped up on the Ugly stepsisters, and Cinderella STOLE the show!
To the AP, Cinderella needs to be #1 in the land! Only the AP can grant a happy ending to this story book season! Correction, it was a happy ending, but the AP can make it an even happier one!

I'm certain the BCS execs are pulling their hair out today and wondering what in the world they have to do to get rid of this team from Utah?

*****

... as they mumble to themselves ... "What in the world is a Yewt?"

"I know!" says one to the another. "It's an Indian bread common among the tribes in the West."

"Nah says someone else ... it's a colloquialism (slang) they use out there. You know ... How are Yewt today?"

Finally, the head of the committee comes to his senses and says:

"I don't care what a Yewt is. Let's just have the PAC-10 expand to 12 teams. ... Problem solved!"

*****

Now AP Writers, vote Utah number 1 and show the Sports World how biased the BCS system is against the little guy.

Its Simple

If Florida cannot beat Oklahoma as impressively as Utah just beat Bama, then the national championship goes to Utah since Utah gave Bama a bigger thumping that Florida.

IMHO

Random thoughts from a BYU alum:
1.Utes didn't beat Bama because of who was or wasn't playing on Tide's O-line. Saban et al need to quit whining about injuries and suspensions.
2. Tide's vaunted defense lost this game. If they played like that all year, they would have finished 3rd or even 4th in the MWC.
3. TCU should be ranked ahead of Bama.
4. Adding 2 teams to Pac-10 wouldn't solve problem. Which 2 would you add?
5. Only in Utah would you consider Big-10 part of an east-coast bias. Everything east of the rockies is NOT on the east coast. Michigan (remember them?) has a fight song where they call themselves the "champions of the west."
6. My alma mater down in Provo needs to eat some crow, and thank Utah and TCU for bringing positive attention to the MWC this year. Maybe if they would play one game at a time instead of announcing a quest for perfection, they could compete in the conference too.

ITrustNo1

Kyle....you da man. What a coaching job. What a team. My favorite two teams are BYU 1st, and Utah 2nd., but I hope Bronco watches the film on this game and appreciates and learns how Bowl and/or regular season game preperations are to be made. WOW...you guys have made the biggest argument ever on behalf of the Mountain West's right to be included into the BCS. You are NO.1, and if anyone says anything differently, just bask in the knowledge that no one will really believe them. Congrats!!!!
