Is nursing your baby really the best photo you have that is "sweet" and shows a great relationship? You, my friend, are USING your BABY to make a political point. Breast feeding is wonderful but it is not the only way to feed a baby. Spare me all the research and facts... heard it. You "lactivists" are attention seeking weirdos who have nothing else going on. I am not offended by breasts. I have a couple. I am not offended by breastfeeding. It is normal, but so are a host of other things people do with their bodies that do not make appropriate facebook photos. Button up your blouse and show the world a "sweet" picture that doesn't use your baby as a political hockey puck.
Ho Hummm...
I think I'll start a group to protest breastfeeding. That's great you want to do it. Why do you need to show everybody?
Lady, none of us want to see you or any other "lactivist" nursing their kid on facebook. Of course nursing your child is a natural thing, but so is urinating. Point is, some things should be private.
Way to go facebook! It all starts innocent and then it goes bad. Lets keep facebook clean, otherwise it will turn into myspace.
I am a father of 2 breast fed children. I am 100% in favor of breast feeding. However, there is NO reason to show your boob in public, EVER! I don't care if the relationship is stronger than steel...there is 0 reason to show your boob to anyone ever unless it's in the privacy of your own home. The "lactivists" have a horrible position. You can breast feed in public while covered up, its not revealing or uncomfortable. Its better for everyone. Why do these people feel its necessary to show their boobs in public? Sounds like voyerism to me.
Way to go facebook! Those kinds of pictures should be pulled.
Lady, you are just coming across as weird. I can't believe you spent the time and effort to fight this battle. I am all for breast feeding but it is a private issue between you and your child. Cuckoo
that's a lot of 'lactivists.' maybe they should start their own web community?
What kind of perverts are you all, that you think that breastfeeding is somehow revealing or private??
Does it give you icky thoughts to see a naked human breast with a baby attached??
I think you should look at your own thoughts - that seems to be where the problem lies.
There are children who use Facebook and they may come across these kinds of photos. It's not right even if it is natural. I have no problem with any woman choosing to breastfeed but people shouldn't have to explain these types of things to their own children before they are ready to do so.
Nor should little children be exposes to a woman's breasts before they are ready to. I'm not sure how much of her breasts were showing but I'm sure it is more than children should be allowed to see. Is this woman a pedophile who wants to entice children into looking at pornography of women's breasts?
If she thinks that nudity isn't obscene she is a sick person and I want to be clear that Heather had better not show her breasts to my children. If she wants to show her breasts to children she should show them to her own since its clear she has a borderline personality disorder that seeks attention to her body.
oh come on people if you don't want to see it that's easy don't look!!!!!!!! do you eat when you are hungry???? then a child should be granted the same rights!!!!!! breast feeding has nothing to do with showing off the breast to the public and if done correctly can not be seen by a casual observer. i feel the mother should take more pride in herself than to go around flashing the public yet at the same time some people just want to see more into this situation than there really is!!!!
Breast feeding doesn't need to be displayed for all the world to see. Have some common sense. There are thousands of other ways to show you're a loving mother than showing your child nursing on your naked breast. What is WRONG with you?
Good for Facebook. And...Great Scot, woman! I fully support whatever you want to do to raise your children but don't try to "flash" the world! No one wants to see your wares.
I breastfed all 7 of my kids in public--as discreetly as possible. BTW "discreetly" means to use good judgment.
I think our kids are bombarded enough with perceived sex symbols. It seems rather twisted to use nursing as an excuse to put on a public display of nudity. Please! Keep nursing Moms "G" rated!
Breastfeeding is a natural thing, sure. But does the whole world wants to see you do it? Nope. Thanks but I am sure people are not having "icky" thoughts about this natural thing. It's just an opinion that personal things like this, do not need to be shared. So hop off your soap box, and take a look at your thoughts because apparantly you jump to conclusions that "icky" is in everyone else's minds.
Thank goodness that Facebook is standing by their policy. That's what they should do. You don't like it, go use myspace.
I am just getting grossed out reading all you people who think that a bared breast and a nursing baby is perverted or somehow done in order to turn someone on sexually. ::shiver:: I can't imagine what other thoughts run through your heads!
>>but people shouldn't have to explain these types of things to their own children before they are ready to do so.>>
Yeah, just ask Sarah Palin how that is working out for her.
nobody wants to see that
end of story
I nursed 9 of my 10 children and I consider nursing normal motherly behavior, physically healthy for both mother and child, and a builder of strong emotional bonds. HOWEVER, I would never post a picture of myself on the internet nursing my children for just anyone to see. I don't feel it's modest.
There are millions of kids on Facebook, let alone the internet, and a picture of a breast is the last thing they need to see! I can just picture a 7-year old looking at that picture, tugging her Mommy and saying, "What's that, Mommy?"
