Watch the play on utube. Andre had the biggest flob of the year on Dirk.
Harder | 8:44 a.m. Dec. 29, 2008
Dirk should have hit him harder. Matt is a big thug. Fouls everyone he can get is grimmy hands on. No basketball skills let in the old man. If it wasn't for Sloanlover, he wouldn't have a job.
Harpring... | 9:40 a.m. Dec. 29, 2008
...needs to retire. His scoring average is way down, and aside from that he is just not an effective player anymore. He's no longer an asset to the team, he just takes up space whenever he's on the floor. The Jazz are going nowhere this season anyway, they might as well develop youngsters Fesenko and Koufos and start making plans for the 2009-10 season. This season is already blown and into the tank.

This season's blown? | 9:59 a.m. Dec. 29, 2008
How do you figure that? Last year we had a worse record going out of december just bairly getting to .500. I think they were like 16-16. Something like that. They ended up still winning the divesion. This season is far from being over.
way to go boozer | 10:05 a.m. Dec. 29, 2008
He's figured out how to end up with the Jazz and avoid a high priced contract somewhere else...just miss games due to injury!
FRB | 10:39 a.m. Dec. 29, 2008
The rules should be changed to have the one game suspension enforced the next time the two teams play each other. Otherwise, the next team on the schedule receives the benefit of the suspended player, not the 'offended' team (even though it didn't matter in this case since the Mavs won anyway).
Boozer | 10:43 a.m. Dec. 29, 2008
I luv u man. ya all should give my man respect. He is hurt and cant play.
Anonymous | 10:49 a.m. Dec. 29, 2008
Players who have the option of opting out of the final year of their current contracts should have to play in 80% of their teams games. Players who don't meet this criteria should not be allowed to opt out.
RE: Anonymous | 11:04 a.m. Dec. 29, 2008
I like the basis of that idea. There should be a few restrictions written into the contracts regarding injuries. Nothing too serious as injuries are a part of the game, but I like the way football has it. More money up front but there are no guaranteed contracts. The NBA has far too many players bringing in big money and not even stepping on the court.

Though you know that would never make it through the owner's and player's CBA.
re: This season's blown? | 12:45 p.m. Dec. 29, 2008
Oh yea, for the Jazz it's over. Sure, they might still make the playoffs, but they won't get very far that's for certain. Try again in 09-10.
Think Positive | 1:28 p.m. Dec. 29, 2008
Come on, they are great team with a great coach and I love watching them. Go jazz

RE: Anonymous

If it's not specified in the contract between the player and the team nothing about playing time is enforcible. Beyond that, what player would sign a contract that stipulates anything about game's played in a sport as physical as the NBA. And what if the coach benches you just so the contract wouldn't have to be paid? Would you sign such a contract? Now I'm not saying Boozer doesn't have a low threshold of pain and isn't worried about re-injuring his knee in a contract season (which both are probabilities) but get serious. Like it or not we need Boozer healthy and playing. And don't expect a trade...what would we get with a guy who is injured (currently and often)? Nothing.

RE: Blown season (Jazz haters),

Go away. Stay away. Strew your garbage elsewhere. Right now the Jazz have over 50 points and 30 rebounds a game sitting on the bench. It won't stay that way for rest of the season. Wait, don't stay away...come back at the end of the season and eat crow when the Jazz advance to the Conference Finals.

would someone explain to me why the offended team cannot require that the offending person not be allowed to play in the next scheduled game between the same two teams. A fine and being suspended for the following scheduled game of the offender does not make sense. What if the player that has been offended is put out for the next few games. shouldn't the team that has been offended get first rights?? Am I missing something?
Dear Ron | 3:25 p.m. Dec. 29, 2008
How could the Jazz be the offended team? Matt and Andre both play cheap basketball. The offended team would be the Dallas Mavericks. Hapring takes his "hit man" mentality out on every team. Andre's flop was the best I have ever seen. Harpring faked like he was hit and then talked it up in the media. Dirk was wronged on this one.
NBA doesn't make sense | 3:51 p.m. Dec. 29, 2008
logic and fairness are left far behind in the NBA
PLAYERS MAKE WAY MORE THAN COACHES SO THEY GET AND DO WHAT THEY WANT
THERE ARE VERY FEW NBA PLAYERS ANYMORE WHO CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THE MONEY-LOYALTY KEEPING YOUR SIDE OF THE CONTRACT, fair play etc ARE OUT THE DOOR!!
WHY DO SO MANY STILL WATCH THIS WWF WITH A BALL?
GIVE ME A COLLEGE GAME OR EVEN HIGH SCHOOL GAME ANY DAY-THERE THE PLAYERS GO FULL OUT-AND WANT TO WIN-INSTEAD OF SITTING ON (OR BEHIND THE BENCH) COLLECTING BIG BUCKS!
Jay | 4:05 p.m. Dec. 29, 2008
Sure Harpring doesn't have the legs he used to have but he is a work horse. Cheap player? Hit Man? The Haters used to say that about Jon Stockton. Maybe if Boozer worked like Karl did we wouldn't need Harpring. As it is, his example is crucial for the young guys. He has a role on this team and he does it without complaint.
Harpring | 4:45 p.m. Dec. 29, 2008
injuries have kept Harpring on the bench a lot but NO one with half a brain will say he does not work hard and play his best even when battling injuries.
if the other jazz players had half his guts the JAZZ would have a few rings by now!Dirty? how many games has Matt had to sit out on suspension for flagrant fouls?Tough yes but dirty? what have you been watching, JR jazz?NBA is a physical game!!!
what about koby's kicking Harpring in the groin after he shot and the refs calling the foul on HARPRING!!
I suggest you watch a few nba games before you lable Harpring as dirty!
sob | 4:48 p.m. Dec. 29, 2008
this is not the first time nitwitski has played rough with the jazz it wasn't too long ago he had a round the neck take down of a jazz man going to the hoop
he is the thug, not the jazz
Love the picture | 5:05 p.m. Dec. 29, 2008
Hey, didn't Dirk play Schlaw in the Goonies movie?

From the picture, the only way I could tell that it was a basketball game and not Willie's cave was the b-ball jersey!
Anonymous | 2:19 a.m. Dec. 30, 2008
Just keep fining the jerks! However, these players make such an obscene amount of money that a couple hundred thousand doesn't even faze them. Plus they get a day off to sit on their overpaid butts.
re: Jazz Haters | 9:56 a.m. Dec. 30, 2008
The Jazz don't have what it takes right now to become champions. Give em a couple more years to develop and get a solid defender and rebounder at the center position. They might be champs in a couple years, right now they are not at that level.
RE: Jazz Hater 9:56am | 2:44 p.m. Dec. 30, 2008
Please re-read my post. Did I say the Jazz would become champions this year? Or any year for that matter? Actually, my opinion is the Jazz will find it very hard to become NBA champions, ever. But don't get me wrong...I love the organization, the ownership, the team. They exemplify what a good sports franchise is all about (which, in my opinion, is far more than simply winning championships). The likelihood of the Stockton/Malone-type team we had ever happening again is quit slim (but not impossible): With the egos of many NBA players, contract amounts, relatively small market Utah has to offer(and consequently small endorsements) and even smaller television revenue (see: NY Knicks), not to mention the caliber of people "off court" the Jazz demand, I just don't see the "on floor" team-talent (14 man-deep!) needed for a championship run ever coming to Utah.

But for me the trade-off is more than acceptable.
