Utah State football: Aggies grab Gerke for coach staff

Gerke leaves Hawaii who set anNCAA record for sacks allowed at 59. Also, Hawaii had the most penalties and yards. Gerke was coaching O line and RB.

Looks like Coach Mac did a good job training coaches.

Yeah its easy for us to be smug after our success this year, but we're lucky USU didn't take Ron McBride, not just his entire coaching staff. Gerke was a great coach at Utah and at Weber. I'm hardly going to denigrate his career for one goofy season in Hawaii. I'm actualy looking forward to watching the Aggies play this fall. It will be nice to see them return to the greatness that program once knew. I think we've beat them twice in all the years we've played them W50.

If USU wins three games, it means a 25% improvement. Sounds like a winner!

Utah State was one stupid end-of-game turnover (LA Tech), one bad first quarter (BYU) and one 58 yard field goal (Fresno) away from being 6-5 and bowl eligible this year. They're improving, I think with a coach who can motivate a little better than Coach Guy was capable of, and with most of their better players returning this year, they'll be above .500 this year.

What I would absolutely love to see, is them going down to Salt Lake and beating the Utes. I don't expect it, but man wouldn't that be cool?
